So my question is this......is it possible for the Feds to "pose" as someone else through email online? That is.....if they chose to....they could pretend to be me, if they truly wanted right? And is that also the case in encrypted messaging? I think I've read here before that it is possible. Enlighten me. Thanks computer/techno brothers! delts ------------------

I would think anyone that had some hacking skills could do this with ease. So, it would be just as easy for the feds to do it.

Depends on the Email carrier. If it's a "regular" carrier- Hotmail, Yahoo, etc. then yeah, they (and anybody else) can read 'em. Encrypted carriers are safer, but Uncle Sam wants to be able to look at that stuff too (on a selective basis, of course) At this point the encrypted carriers do not have to divulge their encryption schemes, so if you and whomever you are writing too are both on Hush or Ziplip you should be pretty good, but this is all subject to change. Using a non-US carrier helps too bec' they are not subject to US court orders to provide their customers decrypted Emails to the Man- Hush for instance is in Ireland, and I think Ziplip is in Tiawan or Japan (not sure on that though). If anybody else can shead some light here please clue us.
