yeah i have to go with T-bone on this one
smith squats are like leg presses you dont have to control the weight only push it

move over to a real bar, no flame, you will really feel the difference

Let me understand this. Why in the hell can't I squat alot of weight? I am 6'4" and I weigh 205. I can leg press almost 800 pounds but I cant hardly squat 275. Ive never used AS but geez. I wish I could squat more. Any suggestions?

Yeah, I got a suggestion. Get off the damn leg press...no shit, it doesn't work. The smith machine works 5 times as good as the leg press, and even that doesn't work for shit. Do real squats. I did squats yesterday and every time I go to step up another step my quads temporarily fail. I love it. Damn, they are REALLY gonna hurt tommorow. They feel funny sitting down.

leg press and smith machine are for lazy people, stick to squats if u want ur legs to reach the next level

if you want to squat more weight the solution is very simple... DO SQUATS. I use leg press's for a burnout at the end of my squat routine.

SQUATS Rule with a bar, was doing leg presses and hacks switched over, went from a 225 squat with bar ass to calves to doing 315 in about 3 weeks awesome.....only problem my ass got bigger, which means have to buy new clothes. wait till I do my first cycle, I will be going to work with sweats and shirt & tie.

squat till you feel like puking....

no kiddin bro... everyone has told me my ass is getting bigger and i can tell because of my pants size. My waist isn't that big its my ass! I just had to move up another pant size because my ass is getting big. My waist size is 33 inches but I wear 36" pants because of me doing heavy squats and deadlifts.

Get off the smith machine, it isn't real weight. It is a pulley device and you don't have to account for lateral support. It is like doing a standing leg press. It will inhibit your growth and actually cause more injuries at a higher weight because it forces your body to move in a linear plane, your body doesn't want to move that way. . .Smith is good for light weight high rep exercises but for the most part I don't go near it, except maybe to steal the bench people seem to always leave laying under it.
