Other than growth plate closure, and shorting yourself natural gains, why is using AS at 18-19 looked down upon? Is it just because kids are generally known to be more reckless, and that's why everyone advises against it or what? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Glad everyone is willing to help rather than flame, since it takes more time to flame. I'm NOT doing a cycle, and in case you all weren't aware, there are other boards other than the anabolic board. That's where my posts are from. Christ. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

When I was 18, I weighed 180 pounds at 6'1" I'm now 20 and 215 with a lower bf% , and still haven't juiced. In the past 2-3 years I have really solidified my training and diet knowledge. Had I started the juice when I was 18, I would have missed out on learning how to do this shit 100% right, thereby shorting myself out of gains in the long run. I'm still learning, and will continue to do so, but I feel I have a much more solid base of knowledge now than I did a few years ago. Incidentally, I'm planning my first cycle to start at the end of January... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

In all honesty, other than the reasons you mentioned, there is no reason why someone couldn't begin juicing at 18. Ideally, you should reach your natural potential before using AAS, but the reality is, if you are going to be a competitive BBer or if you have the potential to compete in a sport at an elite level, you're probably going to have to start juicing early. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I did my first cycle when I was 19. I gained 20 lbs and don't regret it at all. Regarding this bullshit about stunting your future gains...I say fuck that. How is juicing gonna stunt your gains later on?? What? Do I cease producing natural test after I juice? No, Of course not. If you are far from your natural potential (whatever that is, nobody knows) then juice will just speed up the process, IMO. Also, my opinion is that if you juice when you are further from your "natural potential" you will keep more of your gains, as your body isn't being forced to carry more than it should. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Man-O-War - I meant that many younger juicers can use gear as a crutch when they still have plenty to learn about diet and training. They can become reliant on AS... 'Cause how are you gonna make any further gains without AS if you don't have extensive experience with periodization, calorie manipulation, the basics. Hell, ask your average high school senior lifter/juicer how many grams of protien he gets in a day. Sure, there'll be some responsible, intelligent guys that can spell it out for you, but there'll be a lot MORE meatheads who don't have a clue. If an 18 year old guy has his shit together, sure, go for a cycle. But most don't have their shit together. That's why many people advise against 'em using AS. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

No offense to anyone who waited, but who really gives a fuck if you're 19 and juicing. If you are educated and prepared, you are ready. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Twiggy, I understand where you're coming from, and I wasn't trying to persuade him either way. Rather, I was providing a personal experience for him to evaluate. I agree with you when you say that he should have the basics down, but I was assuming that, with him havine 1000+ posts and all. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I do have the basics down as far as natural bbing goes. I have pretty shitty ecto-genetics and was able to go from 155-195 <now down to about 190...fucking back injury> in less than 1 year naturally. I have an excellent grasp of basic nutrition and my intensity is second to none in my gym at least. So if I was going to do a cycle, as long as it was researched, I'd feel justified. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I don't think it matters so much how old you are, but rather, have you reached the absolute maximum of your genetic potential for natural growth in size and strength. That can come at all different ages depending on how long and how intense a person has trained. If you have hit the wall and you are sure, and are not satisfied, you know what to do. My son plays div.1 football, is about your age, is 6'1, 235 like a rock. He can clean and press more than the biggest guys around here bench. Completely natural and still getting bigger and stronger. Why would he sauce? But no two people are the same. Your natural gains are great, and you will know when its time. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

ironmaster has it, you'll know when it's time. In reality, you can't tell a guy whose 18-25 what to do, they will have their mind made up already. The beauty of these boards is that they give information to those who would normally juice according to the rules set out by the gym meathead. Frackal, I doubt you're here for affirmation of your decisions, but I feel that if you are mature enough to handle the responsbilty of living the lifestyle, then you're mature enough to use whatever supplements you deem appropriate. You said you'd feel justified in doing a cycle which is the absolute MOST important thing in doing a cycle. As long as you're ready mentally and physically, I say follow your heart. Whatever you choose, good luck and stay safe! The Hydrozoan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

At 18 years old your body is producing more testosterone naturally than it ever will again in your lifetime. Take advantage of this time and build a great foundation for the future. As long as you are still making progressive gains in both muscle mass and strength you are better off waiting until you hit a plateau. When I was 18 the gains I made were incredible with proper training and nutrition. It wasn't until almost 5 years later that I decided to do my first cycle. Bottom line is I got 7 years of hard training under my belt before I went on my first cycle. Everyone is different so they have to use their own judgement to make the call. Peer pressure should never be an issue when it comes to AS or any other drugs. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Most 18 year olds I know don't have the discipline or knowledge to use AS correctly. Also they still have a few more years to train naturally and gain well. I trained for 7 years naturally before I decided to use and I'm very glad I did. You have to build a foundation first... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
