Anyone think taking a full week off from training is to excessive. I train my ass off when I'm in the gym and have been at it on and off for over 10 years. What sucks is that I feel really down when I'm not in the gym. What do you guys think? Is this Psychological or Physiological?

You should take time off. I take a full week off after every eight weeks of straight training. This allows the body to fully recover, physicaly and mentaly. Training puts incredible amounts of stress on the body. Not just the muscles but the nervous system. During that week off everything is able to recover and better prepare itself for the next round of training. Physical and mental performance WILL improve. I feel like a lazy slob during this week but it is worth it. By the time you get back in the gym you will feel invigorated. It really does help mind and body.

Thanks for the reassurance! I just hate being a miserable MTF when Im not training. My wife says Im a prick unless Im working out. I cant help it, holding a 100lb dumbell in my hand gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside.

I agree, a full week after a few months of straight training would be benificial....although I think I'm much overdue...it's been about 9 months since I took a full week off...I also feel depressed and down on myself when I don't get into the gym everyday....you could always go really light for a week...if you don't feel like taking the time off.

I'm taking 2 weeks off right now. I'm not going to worry about training, and I'm going to put all the supplements on the self and not follow any specific diet. Just rest. It will be a much needed rest and recovery for me.
