I heard through the grapevine that to open amps correctly you first take a knife and cut into the glass a little bit all the way around and then snap the top off.Is this true??What are the chances of glass breaking off and falling into the oil??Any help would be great!!!!! ------------------     | ||

A lot of people use a scoring knife to cut into the glass then put a pen top on the amp and snap it off. Don't think glass gets in it. ------------------ | ||

yes, you could score the amp w/ a knife then break it off....that's what most people do...I wouldn't worry too much about glass falling in the amp....or you could hold the base of the amp with a sock or cloth and put a pen cap over the top of the amp...pull down to crack the head off...and your ready to shoot!! | ||

The best thing is to go at the hardware store and buy a small filing tool (triangle shape), you then file the neck until it gets a white rim, you should them be able to break them easily with a paper towel. | ||

If the amp isn't pre-scored, use a metal nail file to score the neck. It doesn't take much, it should snap right off. D. | ||

use a metal or acryllic nail file around the top-then put tissue around your palm and just snap it off-no glass-clean break. ------------------ | ||

Amp opener's are sold at CVS here in NYC and I would guess in most other drug stores. The good news is they only cost about 8 bucks and work better than knives, sox, tape, files and just snapping. . . | ||

I just file the narrowest part of the amp to i get a little crack. Then i take a napkin and snap it off from there. It seems to work just fine for myself. On the other hand, that amp opener that KODIAK99 is talking about sounds very easy. Later ------------------ | ||

Just hold the amp in your hand and snap it open with your thumb. Also, wrap a paper towell around it so you don't cut yourself. | ||

Do not hold the amp in your hand and snap it off. I did this with a Zambon Winny amp and it blew up in hundreds of pieces. Use a file. ------------------ Don't look back, life is too short | ||

You can buy an Amp opener, I got mine at WallGreens for 7.50 or you can use a sharp knife. |
