N-17E™ By BioTest laboratories Making Nandrolone Legal! There is a supplement reported to be under development by Biotest laboratories in Colorado that has been causing quite a stir in the industry. Its name is to be Nandrolone-17E, short for the chemical name of the compound nandrolone 17b -cyclopent-1'-enyl ether. As you can see nandrolone is part of it, the product being for all intents and purposes an orally active form of the anabolic steroid nandrolone. If this comes to market, it will likely come to be known as the product that ushered in the age of the pro-steroid. The company behind this describes it as very similar to existing prohormones, in that it supplies an inactive form of a steroid hormone that is later converted to active state in the body. In this case the hormone nandrolone is temporarily deactivated by the presence of a 17-beta enol ether. This is the exact same technology used with the Italian steroid Anabolicum Vister, which is an oral ether form of the steroid boldenone. Ethers are very similar to esters such as used in testosterone cypionate or enanthate, as they both protect the 17beta hydroxyl group of the molecule until removed metabolically to yield the base steroid. Esters of steroid hormones are controlled substances. However Biotest is relying on the fact that the Controlled Substances Act is very specific in its wording. Here it states that esters or salts of anabolic steroids are included in the list. Ethers are not mentioned, and it is this oversight that Biotest intends to take advantage of. A number of questions have arisen since the Biotest made their intentions about this product public. Clearly this type of product pushes the limits of legality. It would be the closest, no equivalent to buying steroids legally in a health food store if it makes it to market. Of course the CSA can also classify as a steroid anything pharmacologically related to testosterone that is proven to be anabolic, and without question this product will work as an anabolic. One wonders if it will survive as a legal supplement. Others question the product itself, namely the instability of ethers in drug products. If not produced under the strictest set of conditions, moisture or air contact can reportedly break the enol ether linkage. This would free some amount of nandrolone in the product. This would make it completely illegal for sale; as of course nandrolone is a controlled substance. From what we hear Biotest plans on releasing N-17E by early next year, perhaps sooner. We know certainly that there is a large audience eagerly awaiting this release. This is certainly a product worth looking for, and we will try to keep you posted on its progress.

Yeah but AE and biotest are total enemies, not the best source of unbiased info...

This is based off of the old steroid, quinbolone. The cyclopentyl-enyl-ether affords oral protection as would a 17-alpha alkyl group, but is cleaved rapidly to liberate the steroid base. The base would then have a very short life in the body, making frequent administration required. How Biotest thinks this is legal is beyond me, as even Bill Roberts once claimed that modification of natural products negates its classification as a natural product, such as esterifying prohormones or 17-alpha alkylating them. I think that these companies are using the "get the money and get out as fast as you can" mentality.

If it works the test product will be great for those athletes who are subjected to drug tests.

If it truly works it will be banned before you can say the word Nandrolone. Duh, if you don't know how the FDA works by now you will never know. |
