Deadlifting has always been my favorite exercise...

About 2 months ago I suffered a minor lower back injury while deadlifting. It healed fairly quickly, but starts to ache again when I sit for long periods, or when I'm out in the cold.

To be honest, I'm afraid to do deadlifts now because I can't afford to injure myself again, and I'm wondering what those of you who have suffered back injuries do in this regard.

I was thinking of doing higher (6-8) rep deads off of a power-rack to minimize that part of the lift that hits the lower back the most.

Any thoughts?
