I'm sure you've all heard it's great for burning fat off. Cardio first thing in the morning before breakfast. What about its catabolic effects? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

What catabloic effects? Keep it short and intense and you'll be fine. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Get up - glass of water and ripped fuel extreme. Wait 30 minutes and hit the treadmill for 30 min. Cardio burns approx. 30% more calories from fat under fasting(overnight) conditions. ------------------ The moral? Does L-glutamine and L-carnitine really have anti-catabolic effects? And should they be taken before cardio (on empty stomach)? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I think ALL supplements should be taken AFTER a workout for maximizing gains. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I disagree with shadow. MOST supplements are absorbed better after a workout, but L-carnitine and thermogenics should be taken before. Also Natural Wonder: Where did you hear that L-carnitine has anti catibolic effects. Not saying your wrong but I never heard of it being used for that purpose. I only heard it used for fat loss purpose. ------------------ "It's like mind over matter. If you don't mind... Buldog, it's in Diet fuel. I was told it was there as a anti-catabolic. I'll have to do more research to give you a 100% true answer ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I read in a text book not so long ago that said the following. The first 15 to 20 minute of cardio will only be burning off the Glycogen (from carbs) in our muscles. Then once this is gone our bodies can start to use fat as a source of energy. It also said you could eat protien before cardio and have no negitive effect. Because our body won't process this for energy. Food for though. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

KDTl61, i agree with what you stated about your body burning carbs (glycogen) the first 15-20 minutes of doing cardio. However, if cardio is done first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, your body/muscles are extremely low in glycogen as a result of fasting the past 8-12 hours since eating the night before. As a result of this very low glycogen level, your body can quickly tap into its fat reserves and utilize this stored bodyfat as fuel as its main source of energy during intense cardio sessions. But as you stated, if cardio is done later on in the day, after one has consumed adequite amounts of carbs, these carbs will be used first (15-20 min.) as fuel during ones cardio sessions. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
