If police come to your door to ask you questions, can you simply tell them that you do not want to talk to them? You would not be under arrest, so would the law require that you talk to them?     | ||

depends on what they have on you. If they have enough, they may be able to arrest to get you to the station where they can hammer on you somemore, but if you're smart and don't crack, they eventually have to release you. If cops come to your door, don't talk to them, if they take you downtown, don't say a word until you lawyer up. If they leave, they just might come back with a search warrant. It would be unlikely that they would come to your door without a search warrant anyway. If you have the opportunity, warn your source. That way he can take precautionary measures, that saves him for the rest of us. If they're looking at you, there's a good chance that eventually they'll get to him. | ||

NEVER say anything or answer any questions until you get a lawyer. Even if you don't have anything to hide. They might pull the "if you ask for a lawyer, you look guilty" horse shit. Screw that, everyone has the right to a lawyer. Hell, you don't even have to answer the door. If you open the door and they see anything that could be considered illegal they can go in your house right then and there. Never let them in without a warrent. Always err on the side of safety. | ||

If a cop knocks on your door, and you are having, say, a wild drug orgy in your apartment, the correct thing to do is to tell everyone to be quiet, and then put on a bath robe or something and then go outside and talk to the cop. Don't let him in. You go out. Have a buddy watch through the keyhole or something. Stand there in your bathrobe and look concerned and respectful and polite and tired, and don't say anything, just listen. The cop may give you a heads up on what is coming down, he may say to turn your sterio down, he may say all kinds of things that have nothing to do with you, so just give him a chance to act like a big shot and listen to him, and most likely he will just go away. Based on what you just learned from your friendly cop you now have time to take action to help yourself if you suspect a return visit or a warrant. If the cop has a warrant they are going in immediately, so you are totally fucked, but if he is knocking at your door, you are cool. Don't act like an asshole to the cop and you are most likely just fine. | ||

Being a dick or refusing to talk is not a good thing to do. If they don't have a warrant, either to arrest or search, then chat with them. Don't let them in but talk to them. If they ask about steroids or a package lie to them. But don't tip them off by saying beligerent things or by refusing to talk. | ||

cops will ask all day long, "Can we come in?", "Can you open your trunk?" -- they are setting you up bro. They can get a warrant quick, but if they don't have one all they can do is ask. Most people take that to mean that they can. | ||

In Canada they don't halfta give you your call that you see on T.V. so often.(Damn U.S. media saturation is misleading) You can however request a lawyer. That's when they usually say "So big shot, what's you LAWYER's number? Hahaha" To wich you reply "You have a list of them. May I have it please?" That's when they released me. They got pretty pissed at me knowing my rights. I was young but from talking to a lawyer I found out about that one. Sometime I'll shoot the story by you on what it was all about. Pretty lame shit for an overnighter in the bucket. | ||

Bullshit....... your fuking lawyer will take a big chunk of your money and then tell you to co-operate.... it is all shit you could do for yourself . I know from very real experience that if you talk or if you don't talk your sentence will be the same....the DA and the Judge are the ones who decide that. The rest are just a bunch of pussy cops trying to scamm you into a free setup....DO NOT BELIVE SHIT THEY TELL YOU. never talk to the cops! by not talking to the cops you are forcing them to return with a search warrant, which if you are a little smart, will give you time to ditch your shit. don't even try lying to them. they will get you all turned around, catch you in a lie, and have more reason to suspect you. just let your lawyer handle it, if they take you in, they have to charge you within 24 hours, or let you go. and for bionic chronic, my lawyer charges $500 an hour, but when the cops came to my house and i let them know they could call my lawyer for any questions they left and never came back. check the steriod law for more info, collins has some killer advice. | ||
