"Well with deca thrown in,finasteride is a no-no for hair protection,as the two combined will actually accelerate hair loss."
(HUCKLEBERRY FINNaplex)
could you please elaborate on this one.
as my knowlage on finasteride is a very specific inhibitor of the enzyme 5AR that converts androgens into DHT. Its official use is for prostate enlargement which is also related to DHT levels (among other things). It was felt originally that finasteride would not be effective for hair loss because it only inhibits the enzyme found in the prostate and not in the hair follicle. but finasteride has been found to reduce the amount of DHT in circulation which reduces the amount of DHT the follicle has to deal with and thus less hair is lost.
so why the synergistic between the deca and finasteride would do the opposite (increase
hair damage)?
the reason to my question is that i'm currently bridging with 100mg deca every 3rd day and 240-320mg a day t-unadocate(androil)which also known to convert more esaily to dht.so i'm intending to make use in finasteride (proscar)at 1.25 a day starting today.
thanks.

Rainhorn, the reason that the two do not mix well together is that deca is naturally reduced to a less potent derivitive when it reaches the scalp.Using finasteride with it actually blocks this reduction and turns it into full-strength nandrolone on the scalp, which is the equivalent of testosterone with no finasteride on the hair follicle. So if prone to MPB,you want to avoid this particular combination.

Finasteride blocks the action of the 5-a reductase enzyme, which is responsible for the reduction of testosterone to DHT. Nandrolone does not reduce to DHT, it reduces to dihydronandrolone, a less androgenic substance than nandrolone that probably has a greater affinity for the receptors on the scalp than does either DHT or nandrolone. Blocking this reductive mechanism can cause the nandrolone in your system to bind to receptors on the scalp to which it would not normally bind, as the space would be occupied by the less-androgenic dihydronandrolone.
