Ok...... first of all, look at the time period that arnold was in. Todays bodybuilders have much more available to them and probably juice alot heavier then bodybuilders of arnolds age. You can't compare the 2 people because of that fact. Arnold was the man back in his day. Look at his symetry... uncomparable.

I am not sure why you think this and you are intitled to your own opinion, however, when ronnie has an encyclopedia on the topic, then we may talk .... AND.... arnold has the best video on the subjet, I love pumping iron.... later.....

If we had a time machine to bring the Arnold of the 70's into the year 2000 and gave him Ronnie's amounts of HGH, IGF-1, Insulin, and steroids, and probably synthol.... Arnold would blow him the fuck away hands down.

You ought to get the vidieo "Road to the Olympia 2000" Ronnie Coleman does 12 reps unassisted on the flat and incline bench with 200lb dumbells. And dumbell flyes with 120lbs.

I am with BigT on this one, y'all--if we could get Arnold into todays juice game, I can't EVEN IMAGINE how huge he would be! It's sure fun to think about, though! ------------------

All you guys are associating fame with hardcore bodybuilding...I agree Arnold has done alot for the sport of bodybuilding and legitamizing it, but I don't think he could ever touch ol' Ronnie at his best!!! Believe me you...Arnold was shooting up as much juice then as Ronnie is now...it was just not as talked about as now...You betta believe that!!! ------------------

Manosteele, budy do somne research. there is no medical way that Arnold could have been on the stuff Ronnie is on today. Appreciate him for what he did for the sport and don't try to compare him to someone with acess to substances that were not even around 30 yrs ago. Get real. If you ever stood next to arnold in his prime i think that would change you skewed views.

It's like comparing Michael Jordan with Dr.J. In that aspect you can't say that MJ is the greatest athelete of all time as stated by Sports Illustrated and the rest of the modern world(See Worlds Top 50 atheletes..MJ is #1) MJ had access to all kinds of training techniques, drugs, technology, and many other scientific advances that past atheletes did not have. That is the reason we have science to produce better and better atheletes, so just accept Ronnie for what he is modern day Legend who has shattered and left the Bodybuilding world in Awe!!!!! Now Flex on that!!!! ------------------

arnold and the boys only experimented with up to 30mg of dbol a day. they've already addressed that issue. growth, insulin etc. was not an issue then.

Gotta disagree. Ronnie is a freak there's no questioning that but he's too big. I'd rather look like Arnold. Somewhere along the way competitors have switched from bodybuilding and sculpting to seeing how massive they can get every part. I prefer the old day physiques. ------------------

LOL!!! Arnold was belived to pop up to 20d-bol a day! [This message has been edited by filo (edited November 04, 2000).]

I have to back Ronnie Coleman on this one. Seeing him in person is just unreal. He physique is just awesome, he is so big and ripped. But it is true that you can't compare Arnold and him, they came up in two different worlds.

without arnold leading the way bodybuilding wouldn't be close to where it is today.

Your talkin bout my idol guys, so i had to step in this post. Lets put it blountly: Arnold was the best, and Arnold will be the best forever. PERIOD! Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding old & new versions, Pumping Iron, etc. Man, the list goes on. He had perfect symmetry, and the physique most bodybuilders of today would die for. I can tell you that Arnold did not take the dosage amounts that the pro's of today use. GH & Slin were not a common thing, and i dont believe he ever took them at all. Dbol was his "breakfast of champions" drug of choice, and he religiously took that, but the GH? No way. Arnold was and still is what every bodybuilder wants to become. Idol, celebrity, movie star, Mr. Olympia, yada yada yada. Hes the best and he always will be. You know what though? Ill bet that everytime he sees the sheer mass of the pros today, it makes him wish he was back in the sport like the old days. I bet it drives him crazy. But you gotta grow old some day! I just wish he would have stayed with it like guys like Robbie Robinson did. ------------------

I'd rather be the last place finisher in a local body building show than Arnold. Not saying anything negative about his physical stature...but would rather be the humble and kind person that gets zero credit in bodybuilding. I have watched Pumping Iron once, and will never watch it again because of how cocky Arnold came across. Maybe if I met him...I would like him better. Maybe I am all wrong about his attitude. I realize that I went off in a different direction than this post was intended, but just said what I felt. B True

Sometimes it pays to be a little cocky in bodybuilding. Look at Arnold. ------------------

Ronnie didn't just pop out of nowhere. He was not shit before his first MR. O victory. He got his ass kicked for years, and then ever since the trip to the "Land Down Under" he grew like crazy. I can bet no one on here knows what either of them has taken, so don't get into this war of which one took more. Who fucking cares about this shit, they both are/were great chemical bodybuilding freaks. I will agree with this though, DON'T compare generatios. Babe Ruth was probably the greatest baseball player in history, but in todays standards, he wouldn't make shit. Would've, could've, should've don't mean shit because it will never happen, and it is unfair to both men.
Amateur Bodybuilder Posts: 167 |
MR. BMJ, Your point on Babe Ruth is right on. Two leagues. I look at it as compareing computers then to computers now. They didnt have all the shit then they do now, and now every cycle is more refined than they were.

Come on guys....nobody can say with certainty what drugs each man took, but you are fucking idiots if you think for one second that Arnold took nearly as much as Ronnie....or if he took HGH, IGF-1, or Insulin........

I am an Arnold fan myself, but he did win at least twice the Olympia when he should have lost. 1972 in Munich and 1980 his last one. He did pull them through, so good for him. On the other hand Coleman should have lost his last Olympia. His belly was far too tick and he looked bloated. Maybe he needed a few more weeks to get in his best shape. It still is a question of symetrie and not of only of being the biggest. We may not forget that for the Weider's money is everything. ------------------ Don't look back, life is too short

you can not compare the two periods.

arnold has the best physique i 've ever seen, i agree with bigt with the nowdays drugs he would blow ronnie away. But i wouldn't like to see it sice i like arnold cause he's not as bloated as coleman. i'd never change myself with coleman but i'd do it with arnold.
Elite Bodybuilder Posts: 1228 |
Maybe whe should go the other way around. Put Coleman in the '70's. I'll bet he couln't win from Sergio Oliva, Arnold, Haney ------------------ Don't look back, life is too short
Amateur Bodybuilder Posts: 83 |
Ronnie is much bigger, BUT arnold is a legend!!! all time greatest bodybuilder, actor, author. i swear by his ENCYCLOPEDIA TO MODERN BODYBUILDING. ronnie never did that.
Elite Bodybuilder Posts: 1228 |
Come on guys, Ronnie simply is "TOO BIG", lacks definition, fat belly, belly standing out, bloated, he just wasn't ready, but he did win. ------------------ Don't look back, life is too short

YES YOU ALL FORGOT ABOUT ME!!! I AM THE BIGGEST AND BEST BODYBUILDER OF ALL TIME!! LOL Ronnie is a huge freak but compared to Arnold there is nothing special about him. Many of todays pro have huge giant body but they all seem to have a similar look. Arnold was different. There was never a body that was proportioned or built like his. He had great symatry and size. Also maybe the best looking biceps and chest ever. And he did all this without that terrible looking bloated distended belly. Those big pot bellies look just horrible when they stand relaxed. I'm sure its not healthy either to have all your guts grow inside like that. I would have given the Olympia to Shawn Ray or Flex Wheeler. Those 2 represent how a perfectly proportioned body should look like. |
