What ever happen to the hardcore gyms back in the day...they smelled like old sweaty socks...it didn't have the best equipment or the newest but it got the job done. It always was called something like the Dungeon...you locked yourself in there until you came out a new man. You pushed with blood, sweat, and tears until you were burning all over your fucking body...and you yelled AAARRRRRGGHHH!!!! and pushed for 1 more last motherfucking rep...and after that it was always 1 more goddam rep until you couldn't push anymore....Can I get an Amen from my fellow Iron Gladiators...A Breed all our Own...and lovin it!!!! ------------------     | ||

Awww what a pity I guess all the old iron heads are dead...now they have the gyms with girls comin there in full makeup and nails done. Ah yes! Everyone here over 25 remembers those gyms. Mine was in a room called "the pit" complete with that dried up rubber floor that you couldn't mess up, no windows, NO AC (amen!), and the walls were made of cinder block painted off white with a bunch of nicks and chips of paint missing! It's a real shame that place is gone... | ||

When I was in school, we worked out in a cage! No kidding. It was cool. When I was um, incarcerated I worked out in a sweaty, smelly dungeon. Had some really good workouts with some hardcore brothers in there. ghans | ||

way back when I was a teen we had a Golds Gym in town and it was hardcore shit. Mr. Texas was working the front desk for Gods sake and it was the place where all the local competitors trained. Ill never forget my first time getting the tour of the place from Mr Texas himself, I must have been 15 but there was someone passed out on the floor at the squat rack of course. The whole place was just like you described except there was a "pit" area in a corner whree the walls looked like they were going to cave in and the floor was covered with chalk as were the bars. Only the men with iron wills ventured into this area....Now I hve to train at a pussified worlds gym. Fuck, even the guys that look badass at my world gym train like fuckin pussies! Must be the gear I guess.... ------------------ | ||

My gym comes from the heart of the old school... Concrete floors... Almost completely all freeweights... plenty of benches... etc. I love it. did i mention it is an old converted warehouse? Air conditioning... occationally. peace. | ||

This brings back fond memories. I belonged to a gym called 'key holders'. It was the best! Hard core! It was never open. You had to have a key to get in. Never, never let anyone in. They must have a key. Get in 24/7 with a key. Closed because some prick decided to loot the joint. Sadly, you cannot trust anyone anymore!!!!!!! | ||

We got a gym like that back home, Joe's Gym, and I love it. When I am at school everyone asks me why I lift at the college weight room instead of at Gold's Gym. The college gym is a sh**hole, but I love it. 200 degrees, loud music, rusty equipment.............That is what it is all about...AMEN!!!!!!!!! my gym was called power drive. man it was the shit, no shoes required, no towel, music so loud it would hurt your ears. damn i miss that place. | ||

I disagree with all of you. If the weights are rusty or brand new does not matter. If your a hardcore BB, what the gym or the equip looks like is the last thing on your mind. |
