I have a problem. My chest always blows up during a workout and gets a pump that will go away about a day later. I am on decca now and i have started to harden up all over except for my chest. Arms, legs, shoulders, abs all rocks except for the chest. Even when i flex my chest it doesn't get hard . Please , is it my training or diet?

I do decline dumbells superseted with light decline flys. I do incline dumbells , incline flys, hammersrength machine, and pec dec. Some days i substitute cables for pec dec or barbell for dumbells. I do about 5 chest exercises per workout about 3 sets each. I superset a lot. My routine is always different with different variations and reps. I train chest 2wice a week. One session i go with my reps at around 8 per and then i bang out around 15 reps on the second day i work chest in the week.

It sounds like you are overtraining your chest. It needs rest since it is not a very large muscle. Try doing chest once per week for a month and try to see if there is a difference.

here was my last workout-----4 sets of incline dumbells 10-15 reps, 3 sets of incline dumbell flys 10-15 reps, 3 sets incline press machine 8-15, 3 sets cables superseted with light flat bench dumbells, low cables for sets 20 reps.

Would softness be a symptom of overtraining for this particular muscle group spawn?

The softness may be from overtraining (since it does not have a chance to fully heal before you tear it down again) or it may be genetic. Try to change it for a month and keep a "trial and error" mentality until the problem is fixed. You may also have a slightly higher fat storage rate around your chest.

sounds liek overtraining, drop it to once a week. You might want to take 2 weeks off just to let your pecs regenerate your glycogen stores, but if you're in the middle of a cycle, screw it if you're getting stronger. But when you're done with the cycle, give it some rest. Also, I was told once that softness comes from not enough protein, I have no idea if this is valid or not, just what I was told.

a little softness could be from extra water retention in the muscles, but i am not sure. |
