Obviously this fat mother fucker thinks it's a big deal.

I'm now working out at my college's gym and seeing new faces everyday. I saw this dude today slam on 315 making as much noise as possible to get noticed. Then he stood by it taking huge ass (loud) breaths. He finally did his bullshit-ass-berely-bending-his-knees three times. Slam it back on the rack and went: AHHHHHH!!!!
Goddamn I wanted to got out there and slap his fat face!!!

I saw a guy at my gym do 360lbs. He was screaming and getting everyones attention but it was legit. The f**ker squated his ass to the floor and back for a total of 6 reps! Despite the grunts that would pop the eardrums off a mosquito, it was damn impresive!!

360lbs...Yikes!!

There is the smaller Carribean dude at my gym with legs of a GOD who will squat 545 (no shit -- five plates and a quarter) for eight reps with his ass on the ground, and he makes it look like he does it with no effort. BASTARD!!

Hugo Girard trains at my gym and I saw him maxing out on the squat last year.

1 rep to parallel with 8 plates...

that is 765lbs in the Gym now that is impressive...

around the same time he benched 5 plates for 5 reps.

For those who don't know Hugo Girard is a strongman from Canada and he finished 4th at the 1999 WSM.

Saw a trainer at my old gym who weighed 165lbs do 4 plates for three. Just a little guy. Not freaky big but well put together. Said he was training to be a cop. Half japanese. Only a couple quite grunts.

I am getting older so I only go up to 405lbs. Knees, Hips, Back, Ankles don't need the added stress. My basic leg workout begins with squat every 5 days.
Squat
Warm up
Bar-20
135-20
225-15
315-12
365-10
405 (3Sets of 8)
All movements done to atleast parallel. If you cheat or pussy out on the down move only you lose.
Than, go to leg press, Leg extensions, standing straight leg deads, and leg curls. . .finally limp home tired and naucious.
I hate the fucking dudes that use to much wieght with bad form. Accidents waiting to happen.

I'm with WCP on this one. I thought my 435 for 6 clean was good. Actually I had to give props to this dude at the gym who weighs no more than 165 he hit the 435 for 4 ass-touching-touching-ankle squats. I was impressed. Looks like I've gotta start loading the plates on to get to 545!!!

I couldn,t resist. My good buddy and training partner had 36 plates on the leg press. That's 1620lbs. Plus two other guys on the pile trying to hold the extra plates on top that didn't go on the bar and adding an extra 355 between them. He pressed it 3 times. That comes out to equal 1975lbs. When we got out the calculator to add it up he was pissed because one more quarter and it would have been an even 2000. Very impressive. There wasn't a soul in the gym who wasn't watching. Oh ya the grunting was very minimal. this is one strong fucker. HE stands about 5'7" tall and weighs about 265. Oh ya he is 100% natural! Damn I wish I had those genes.

315 for 3? That is not very impressive. Consider the fact that most of us weigh 190-210lbs, we should be able to squat twice our weight. I can do 387.0lbs and I weigh 190.0lbs. Tried 315lbs, did 11 reps. I train in a serious gym, and nobody really tries to impress anybody, we all respect one another, and that is the way it should be.

godspeed

315 for 3 for a big fat dude is terrible. He was probably grunting and screaming because he was about to have a heart attack or coronary. I weight 162lbs and I can do that for 6 clean ... 10 with the help of the manta ray (trap protector for squatting).

I figure some people just see other people moving heavy weight and grunting so they will do it to seem like everyone else. Proper form is something rarely seen in gyms. There is only one other guy in my gym who trains peoperly and his physique shows it.

The other day i saw some zero pile 6 or 7 plates on each side of a smith machine....he went all out, suit, wraps, belt, he even chalked the fucking bar on the smith machine, he then proceeded to have 2 guys who were as dumb as him spot him, then he cranked out 1/500 of a rep and screamed and yelled and looked around the gym afterwards....people were staring but it was for all the wrong reasons.

I got to say guys this is a funny topic, listening to you guys boast , but i like it... what i want to know is how in the hell can you squat so much without damaging muscle tissue in your traps, and if you guys are real men do some knockout squats, then well see how much you lift..(knockout squats, being with the bar on your chest..)

later...

DevilBoy has a point. Front squats should be the real measure of leg strength since you use mostly quads with little back support.

Mostly Olympic lifters use front squats. You should try them, but be careful.

Coleman front squats with 405 strict.

All the way down. 10 reps easily.

Right in front of me. 4 sets.

The guy is quite strong.

I can do 315 for 10 reps.. 3 sets...however..I am one of those guys who has to put 25lb weights under my heels...if I don't I lean too far forward and throw my back out..... Im 5'8 and weigh 195..I know I suck... :-)
