i was curious to know what exactly this strong steroid was intended for.And i 've heard also that many of the cancer cases were from the medical treatment.    | ||

Don't know if this is an "official" use, but I have known someone who was told to take it due to their anemia. ------------------ The moral? It doesn't matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle, when the sun comes up - you had better be running.  | ||

I've heard of this being used for a few things- It's been used for anemia for a while bec' it increases the production of blood cells, but more recently (and the main reason it was brought back on ther market) is for wasting due to AIDS.

I was thinking the same thing. Anemia is a iron deficiancy I think. The symptoms are feeling cold, always tired ect. ------------------ | ||

They were given quite often to elderly women with aneamia (lack of RBC). You still see them in some nursing homes (although here they've been removed from BNF about 7 years ago) I know that some specialist units in a handfull of hospitals still have them here. They might work quite well with people suffering from AIDS in Third World countries, hell of a lot cheaper than most of the other medication! As it's a bit of a different strain, there's far less medication (ie effective antivirals) so I could see why it might have been 're-introduced'. ------------------ | ||

i got me a prescription of anadrol, i said it was for anemia "from afriend doctor"  i still had to pay $100 for the 100 tabs... the insurance covered $1100!!! it is made by UNIMED in the us...-MIKE- | ||

Anadrol is the only steroid out there proven to actually produce new red blood cells. That is the medical purpose, though there are other things out there that do that process better, it is used for it's muscle supportive features too. |
