Well, today I had my second appointment with Dr. Leahy, the inventor of A.R.T. Let me give you a little backround... About a month and half ago, I had a minor dislocation of my left shoulder. I could barely lift my arm for several days. After about two weeks, it felt better, but I was nowhere close to being able to get back into lifting. I had the shoulder checked out by an M.D. and he said that it was as good as it was going to get unless I got surgery. He said there was a tear in the labrum and it would need to be scoped, which would put me out for four months. Wanting to avoid surgery, I decided to see what I would be able to do with the shoulder as it was. About 1 month after the injury, I went in to bench, and it was a sorry affair. I got 295 for 6, 295 for 4, then quit in pain and disgust. I then decided to make an appointment w/ Dr. Leahy, and went in early the next week. He worked on my shoulder for about 6 or 7 minutes. My range of motion improved immediately after being worked on. The next day, I went in to bench again. I got 315 for 5, 315 for 5, and 325 for 6. As if that wasn't good enough news, I did it all with almost NO pain in my shoulder. So, my second treatment was today. As of right now, I would say my left shoulder is at about 90%. The doc said it would continue to improve as I trained. I have basically full range of motion. The only remaining signs of the injury are a slight sticking or pinching in the extreme parts of the range of motion. Basically, this treatment kicks ass. It saved me from 4 months of not being able to lift, and all for $225 dollars. So, if anyone is having any injury trouble that is soft-tissue related, I highly suggest you hunt down an A.R.T. certified doc in your area. ------------------

Active Release Therapy - form of deep tissue massage to break down adhesion, etc. Really painfull but really worth it. ------------------ The moral? It doesn't matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle, when the sun comes up - you had better be running.
