Ok, Bros am I paranoid or did I have good reason to be totally freaked out?? Yesterday I went to one of �our� favorite Vet shops in TJ. Im sure quite a few of you know the one I am referring to?? (Elizabeth help???). Anyway I walked into the place met a man I have never seen there before. I asked him for a few items which he placed on the counter. I asked how much and he says �I need to check the price and if I can sell them�. The man then disappears into the back. I stand at the counter for about 5+ minutes, and am beginning to get a little freaked. In walks another man I have never met there before, and goes behind the counter and asks me what I need. I told him the few items on the counter, he totals up the bill without question, I pay him and move quickly out of the store. The first guy still has not returned. I walked about 4-5 shops down when a police officer on motorcycle rolls past me and parks in front of the Vet shop. The officer gets off of his bike and goes into the vet shop. Needless to say I got the hell out of the area as soon as he entered the shop. I changed appearance, most know what that means, and wandered onto the revolution with the rest of the americans. So was I about to be scammed?? I have heard police will �arrest� you for making and illegal prescription buy and of course release you when you pay the on the spot fine� The person who calls obviously splits the take. Or was this shear coincidence??? If so what the fuck was a police officer doing in a vet shop?? Especially a motorcycle cop?? Does anyone know if maybe some of this shops employees have turned to the dark side??? I know Elizabeth was not on duty this day, she was suppose to come in on Tuesday�. Maybe I am paranoid but this sure freaked me the fuck out!!!     | ||

1) Only deal with people you're familiar with (i.e. Elizabeth). If you don't recognize the clerk and/or he gives you a hard time, doesn't know the common information, etc., quietly leave. 2) The cops there really don't care about the sale of pharmaceuticals -- it happens there all the time, from both the locals and tourists. It's a major source of income for the local area. BUT, if they want to cause problems, the can get cash from the tourist with their threats. Hell, they don't make much money from the government, so they will do so in other ways. It's called wide-spread corruption. 3) Anything you purchase, hide immediately. If they don't see anything, they'll have no reason to question you. | ||

Thanks for the good advice!!! I will seriously pay more attention. I got kinda lacks figuring it was a vet shop "no threat"... I guess the moral is theres always a threat. | ||

Banshee. I can say this. This place in particular has to pay off QUITE A FEW PEOPLE from what what one of her brother's told me. Its hard to say what was going on but I know that place well and it seems doubtful that you were going to get set up. It was quite odd though and you did the right thing. ------------------ | ||

I have been in there on a couple of occasions with the cops in there, it is scary but they were in there to pick stuff up (I think legit for animals) needless to say they didnt pay. They have a good place and about 5 different people that work there, E isn't always there but her brother usually is. They recently hired a new guy (about 1.5 weeks ago) they were running him through the hoops, he has no idea about all the products and brand names so thats probably who you ran into (kind of skinny, on the shorter side, and nervous) he is learning. We had him try to field an order of mine, it was funny he had no clue, Im off the subject - at any rate its good to be paranoid especially with those cops down there, always watch your back. And for gads sake bring some homies (and if you don't speak spanish make sure one of them dose it helps immensly with pricing: if they look/sound like they are local). Cool thanks.. I was really hopeing this was just me being paranoid.. I have found that particular shop to be one of the best i have dealt with. I would hate to think its time to look elsewhere. I will be there again very shortly so I will let you all know how that goes. | ||

Bro, know how you feel got shaken down in TJ this summer cost me 160 bucks to get out, but they let me keep my stuff. I heard some places will call the cops after you leave or the cabbies will to get a piece of the action. | ||

Whatever was happening, sounds like you did the right thing. What I do is try to feel out the people I deal with down there. And stick with the ones that are legit. I have a couple pharms I hit and I always use the same cabbie. If you hook up with a good cabbie and treat him right. He can give you all the info. you need. Down there, good cabbies are key. |
