Gentleman, in april of this year I decided to compete in a bodybuilding show a year later. I intended to reach about 230 lbs. by new years and then begin my diet.(the show is in mid-april). You all know I am still natural, but I'm also 240lbs(up from 210 in april). Some fat was definately gained, but much more muscle than fat, I'd assume plenty of water. My question is, should I run with this natural cycle youth has given me and see just how big I can get by new years and then diet. Or should I stick to my plan, get back down to 230 and stay there untill I start my contest prep. The reason I'm stuck on 230 is because a guy at my gym told me to shoot for it by Jan. but I'm not so sure he expected me to get there and surpass it so quickly. I'm also anticipating about 200lbs ripped if I were to diet right now, that's 40 lbs to lose, I'm not sure if I should put on more weight, but I want to do what'll make me win(it's only the teen division, I'll take it for sure) also any contest prep tips appreciated. thanks ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Well, i dont know how much i can help you bro, but i will do what i can, and the other guys can help you too. If you were shooting for 230, and you are now at 240, then damn man, you are doing pretty good! Natural? I will take your word for it, you are a lucky man. And to still be a teenager? WOW.....way to go man. First things first: what class did you want to compete in? The light-heavyweight class in the NPC is between 176 1/4 & 198 1/4. So you have to fall in between those marks. What you ought to do, is try to maintain your current weight, maybe try to shed some unwanted fat now, and gain more muscle, but keep your weight relatively the same. That way, you can come in the contest and take the teenage division, and also jump into the Novice Light-heavyweight class, and maybe even take that one too! Its your first show i assume, right? Well, if i was you, that is what i would do. One other thing, is it hard or easy for you to shed the weight? What bodyfat % are you? See, i only need to diet about 8-9 weeks, because at 196 i only have about 7% bodyfat now, so come diet time, i dont need to lose a ton of fat. But you, on the other hand, will be losing about 40 pounds, and will want to maintain as much muscle as possible while dieting. Tell us how your body reacts to dieting, and maybe we can help you more. Im sure some of the other guys have good input for you too. ![]() ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

If you're body fat is within range, I'd say get as big as you can. Don't add the extra 10 lbs in fat. You have 4 months to diet, any extra mass will be a bonus. BPP ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I'm 18. Roughly 15% bodyfat,a guess and I am 6ft. 1in. I had a full body composition test a month ago but my college is switching computer programs right now, it will be compatable with the test but they aren't finished for some reason, probably because they're lazy, so I don't know for sure. I've dieted for short periods of time(4 weeks on two occasions) and had pretty good results, but I think I'm going to hit the eq and fina for the contest. Possibly T3 and clen also, otherwise I don't see myself getting down to 4 or 5 percent bf.

First of all you are posting on the wrong board. This is the anabolic board. Being a teenager you shouldn't be doing AS, like your not. Maybe you should try a post on the diet board or some bodybuilding discussion group not related to anabolics. Sorry, just my .02. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Okey Jesus, do you realize who you're talkin to? I'm respected on this board, therealj's board, shit I'm a mod on steroidworld.com. At 18 I know more about steroids than most 40 olds lookin to get into the sauce. I know my shit. I haven't juiced yet, nor have I decided for sure that I'm going to soon, but if I do, it's for a competition, I think that's a worthy reason. This is not the wrong board to post this on, the description of this board says any and all topics related to bodybuilding, plus, all of my bros with opinions I value converse here. So suck me sidways, eat a D,go lick your dogs ball, I don't care, but don't tell me not to post this here. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

At this point in your prep - I can offer just one piece of advice. When you feel that you are at the line between weight classes - always shoot for the lighter class, especially if the border is between Middle-weight, and Light-Heavies. You can be at 197 pounds and at the very limit iof the middles, or at 200 pounds and be 20-25 pounds lighter than some guys. Just my .02 ------------------ The moral? It doesn't matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle, when the sun comes up - you had better be running. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

cantgetlayed: 1) Aim for 3% bro you will be dissapointed if you show up any fatter. I competed at 5% and felt like shit that is too fat... 2)Read my reply on therealj's board. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I can tell you from experience that doing a contest natural is very tough. I agree that you have done very well to achieve 230 at 6' by 18 but we don't know the bf% yet. I will tell you that your entire decision should rest on the amount of bodyfat you have. Considering most people natural or not only compete at around 5-6%, it is possible to come into the show looking good without any gear. I would suggest that you have another bodyfat test done by someone else willing to test you every three weeks. Calipers are inaccurate between 4-5% depending on the experience of the user but they are also the easiest. My personal choice in this matter is a gradual step down approach to dieting. I don't suggest you start now but rather slowly disgard bits of bad out of your diet. It will slowly take the pounds off and still allow you to continue to train hard. I also find that it helps to stay on the diet by not dropping everything at once. The typical drops I do are usually defined as "the whites" to make it simple for most to remember. 1)simple sugars 2)milk 3)potatoes 4)rice 5)breads By eliminating a item per 3-4wks you'll do better than a drop everything diet on no gear. I have done the losing 30lbs plus a many of times and find I lose large amounts of muscle without gear. Its just to much stress on the body to do it real quick so start cutting back some now. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I'm with PumpnIron, bro...you don't want to go too much higher in bodyfat, 'cause to go from 15% down to about 3-4% (which I agree should be your goal, anything more and the cuts will not be there--not for a contest anyway!) is a lot! Eat clean, but eat enough for now...start dieting hard abour 10-12 weeks out, and definitely drop me an e-mail whenever you want, I can give you all the advice I can think of... ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
