Amino acids make up the protien that we eat. There's 20 of them. They are responsible for tissue repair(growth), hormone production, and imune system functions to name a few. Put amino acids together and you have protein. Complete proteins have all 9 essential amino acids that must be consumed. The body can't manufacture them. These are animal proteins and soy. Plant proteins are incomplete proteins, they lack certain essential amino acids. You can make them complete by mixing various plant protein sources to get a complete amino acid profile.(ex. Rice and Beans). Eat your protein and you'll get your amino acids.
