Shit's been real hectic for me lately. I haven't been to the gym in almost 3weeks. I'm wondering if I still need the high protein diet to conserv muscle. Of course I know I need it for building.

Yes you do. Keep your protein high at all times. Use an MRP if you're really that busy.

No, if you aren't doing alot of exercise or strenuous activities, then you don't need a lot of protein for maintanence. A normal diet will easily suffice.

Just watch you don't go catabolic. If you start loosing weight you may need more protien.

If you are not training, try to get .75 to 1 gram of protien per lbs. of weight. If you hit the gym jump up to 1.5 to 2 grams. You really dont need as much when you arent training, but it wont hurt

If you don't gain fat real easy, I'd keep the calories and the protein up so you at least stay in a "somewhat anabolic" state, but if you start to see the spare tire, change the diet accordingly!

I read somewhere that the body has the ability to produce the protein it needs? Anyone agree with this?

Yeah right, the body can produce the protein it needs by BREAKING DOWN muscle tissue.

Exactly thats called a catabolic state. Your body will attack muscle which contains the aminos it needs to make protien for other more important areas. Eat the protien it can only help

If your eating the right stuff 5x a day your getting all the protein you will need. Taking in too much wont help, or hurt. But it could get you fatter-
