I was reading an article that mentioned saw palmetto will reduce gains during a cycle. Anyone else have any more info on this? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

If it does I haven't noticed it. Dave Palumbo puts it in all his cycles and most BB's take it. I would be interested in why someone would make such a claim. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I've heard that part of how it helps your prostate is by decreasing certain types of test, and that does cost strentgh. I've heard this a couple of places. I don't know how significant the difference is though. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Let me enlighten you my friend ![]() I can understand WHY such a claim is made. But since I have not read the article (only the abstract..hehehe) I have no opinion on its soundness. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I used it during my sustanon cycle last year i did 500 all the way through. My friend did the same sus at 250.I took saw palmetto with it. Both our first cycles. I gained a hell of a lot on my cycle, But My friend gained 34 lbs. !! 10 more lbs. than me. I had a more constant diet than him and look what happened. My genetics are outstanding as all my friends know and supperior to his obviously. So you make the call. By the way I read that artical too and am scared to use it again. This board was put up so we can see each other's experiences and successes so we can learn, so i had to share this with you. ![]() ![]() ![]()

I heard that is it a blocker of DHT not testosterone. DHT in itself is not anabolic. The test is anabolic. So I cannot see how it would reduce gains unless the weight from and enlarged prostate is counted. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

AM you're doing that abstract thing you do so well. What were the dosages? How long was the study and who made up the control group? Conclusions? It was done in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Are they a leader in this type of research? I am going to read this study tomorrow and when I am finished I'll send it to you. ![]() Headhunter you're right and AM's abstract says as much [This message has been edited by ulter (edited October 22, 2000).] ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I, too, am skeptical of this study. Afterall, if it worked so well, why isn't it used for hirtsuism and other endocrine disorders? I am just pointing to one possible route from which the aforementioned (mis?)conception may have come. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

It is very possible that saw palmetto can interfere with gains, since it mode of action is that of an ANTI-androgenic. It's mechanism is different than that of finasteride or cyproterone, it somehow blocks the intracellular signalling mechanism of androgens, especially that of DHT. Along with anti-androgenic action it, is also an anti-estrogen. ![]() ![]() ![]()

They did not mention the target tissues for test and DHT. They were talking about hirsuitism and virilism. Without knowing the specific target tissues uptake was blocked at the rest is gibberish. Peace! ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
