There has been some mention of spironolactone around here for preventing hair loss, but I do not believe that anyone has discussed Xandrox 12.5%. Has anyone used either of these with good success? Yes, I am aware that MPB is part of someone's genes, but I am strictly looking at how effective these compounds are for preventing MPB in general. Are these the best topical compounds or is there something better? ------------------

Nizoral Shampoo 3x a week, head & shoulders ED, Propecia. Has been a charm for keeping my crops. If you were wondering that's me in the photo and i was almost hairless before I started. . .LOL [This message has been edited by KODIAK99 (edited October 21, 2000).]

Xandrox contains azelaic acid, an inhibitor of the 5-alpha reductase enzyme. Therefore it would be of use for testosterone based steroids. However, like finasteride, it will not work with all AAS.

Whenever I have tried spirolactone I started shedding badly. I tried it twice with the same results. I don't have the balls to continue with it and see what happens.

Yeah, spironolactone usually causes shedding for awhile, but then after this process is over it starts to do its thing. Think of it as "ringing out with the old and bringing in the new"! By the way, how long were you shedding? ------------------

I only shed for a day or two and then I quit. I am not losing my hair yet but I have the genes and the symptoms. I get red inflamed areas of infected follicles. Nizoral cures the red inflamed areas except when I'm "on". That is when I tried spirolactone. |
