Ok.
It seems whenever I perform deadlifts, my lower back fucking kills. I swear I have the correct form as ive studied the technique from a few different sources. Has anyone else had this problem, and what did you do if anything to correct it?

Go lighter high rep, and strech. Try those fucked up looking back extensions on back day with a weight behind your head.

Probably have a bulging disk. Talk to a doc and ask for a specific diagnosis. If he gives you a diagnosis of "low back pain" tell him you need a referral to somebody who won't cop out on you. You will need an MRI most likely. I hope you have good insurance. The best conservative treatment for bulging disks, in my opinion, is traction (physical therapy). Also, sleeping in a sphinx position (on stomach, pillows under head and chest to cause lower back extension) may help. Good luck. Peace!

Im on a growth cycle here. I want to keep my weight relatively heavy. But I guess I gotta do what I gotta do. Are there any other compound type exercises that could take the place of the deadlift?

Split squats allow a nice upright position of the back. Back extensions on a swiss ball are a nice low-impact way to work the spinal erectors. Neither compare to the deadlift in terms of sheer power and anabolism, but they will prevent losses. Hope it helps. Peace!

I hate for my first post to be a disagreeing one. But, don't lay on your stomach with a pillow under your chest. Put a pillow under your hips. It will give your lower back its natural arch and no stress. I've had two crushed discs for three years, it sucks bro, but they'll get tolerable after p.t.; good luck with them.
