Theres a new company, now on the stock market, which has designed a needle free syringe for non-vet applications. Currently, the product is still under FDA approval and phase testing. The syringe works by utilizing a spring loaded device which is engaged upon contact with the injection site. The syringe contains a micrometer size hole which produces a needle like stream of the solution which passes through the dermal layers into the muscle. The resultant of this is the cessation of transmitable deseases such as HIV and HEP due to the lack of a penatrating needle. In addition, it may be quicker and more effective than the conventional method for sticking gear. Check it out. ------------------     | ||

I dont know how long the injection lasts. But if its spring loaded, it must be pushing at a decent rate. I think the plus is that it is a self contained unit. No more screwing needles onto the syringe. Their ready to go. ------------------ | ||

Good question, which I cannot answer. A friend of mine from work whos a heavy trader on the stock market told me about the company. Multiple others as well, so I cant remeber which is which. Ill try to get the info a post it in the AM. You may be able to search it in yahoo finance. I believe the product is called medi-ject. ------------------ | ||

Sounds similar to what we got vaccines with in the army, only it used compressed air. We were lined up like cattle while they shot us with these guns which looked kinda like fina pellet injectors. We were shot in the delt. When they shot the kid ahead of me, they kinda skidded it off his delt, leaving a long shallow gash. First he puked, then he passed out, then later the poor bastard had to go do it again. I'll keep my eye out for these. Peace! ------------------ | ||

Doc Atlas is right. we had those when I was in boot camp, they didn't work for shit. After the inject, half the shit would drip down your arm, and those weren't oil based injections. if that happened with water based, imagine what it would do with an oil base. Interesting, I would fear abcess if the 3-4cc's I shoot wouldn't get in deep enough to the muscle. I mean "a needle like stream"? Would love if it became a reality for us, but Im skeptical. Slopain | ||

I agree with my former army bros....if you flinch, it will cut you nicely, plus they only give you a 1cc injection with those guns and the thick oli based gear at high dosages might cause problems. shaw | ||

Man, talk about getting soar!! I take a good 45 seconds or so for an injection. But a sping loaded injection would be like 1-2 seconds. That would hurt like hell!! | ||

I've been hit by one years ago in the military. Like the above said, 1cc is all it's good for. I don't think 3cc could be shot through your arm that fast. Even 1cc was painful. I'll stick to the injecting, I don't feel it. | ||

It's only good for sub Q, not Intramuscular injections. Those military pnuematic puppys will rip a mondo hole in your delt if you flinch when they pull the trigger! I have the scar. 1911, BTW - What was the guage on that "big ass" atropine injector? They don't use the same type of pin for atropine. They have a spring loaded little device now. You still have to press it to your body but the pin and injection is spring loaded. A few have F^CKED up and had the needle shot through thier thumb. I think that the needle is around 18-20 gauge. ... |
