I was thinking about the metabolic effects of DNP while on a low-carb diet. I thought about it, and her is my reasoning, it's quite interesting(feel free in being critical): DNP inhibits the body from making ATP from glucose. If you switch to a 70% prot/30%fat diet, you will convert 58% of the protein to glucose and 10% of the fat. So, theoretically, if you are on a 2000Kcal diet at this ratio(1400protein Kcal/600fatKcal), roughly taken Thermogenesis=10%(200), and 812Kcal of the protein(58%) and 60 Kcal(10%) of the fat is blocked by DNP, You are actually only ingesting 928 of those 2000Kcal. It gets better, you could theoretically consume 5000Kcal at this ratio and not get fat. (3500p/1500fat): Thermogenesis=500Kcal Prot=2030Kcal(58%), Fat=150Kcal(10%) So, Total Kcal in: 2370 (Frigging Hell!) So, as you can see DNP will reduce your calories by about 53%, while at the same time sparing muscle(anti-proteolitic). DNP, in my opinion is the best single fat-burning compound ever created(even PGF2A).

Interresting post bro, Only thing I mind about is, I think it would 'stink' to eat just 3500 cal. on that kind of diet ;9) oink, oink. Mike H. ------------------

Bump...'cause from some of the other posts, everyone says that you should eat more carbs to avoid hypoglycemia when on...but I like the idea of still being able to eat like a bodybuilder and not a small bird...good post! ------------------

If you try it, I would really be careful and always have some carbs at the ready. However, I heard that this was how Flex got into shape in 1 week after his Ironman loss, so it obviously worked for him.

I tried this a few months ago. Keto diets work really well for me and I eat pretty low carbs most of the time, but initially, when I was on DNP, I added some carbs back into my diet because everyone said the two didn't mix. I got hot and everything, but I didn't lose much fat after a couple weeks, so I got into ketosis before my next DNP cycle and had better results. I also noticed that the sweating was not as bad with very low carbs. The key, I think, is that you have to reach ketosis. I'd suggest being in ketosis before starting the DNP cycle (if you're doing 7 on, 7 off). I was on DNP and low carbs for about 21 days straight, and a total of about 5 weeks, with no problems. What was kind of strange is that while I definitely got leaner, the scale never changed more than a pound or two. I'm still not sure exactly how that happened. I think lots of the people who try keto diets never get into ketosis and that's why they complain about having no energy and feeling light-headed. They're still burning carbs. I think it would be really bad news to already have low blood sugar levels, then drop 400mg DNP. Once in ketosis, your body will have a constant stream of energy from the ketone bodies being produced. You'll feel fine. I say try it out and keep some quick carbs handy, just in case you run into trouble. I carried some grape juice with me for the first few days til I relized that I wouldn't need it. The Doctor

Yep, DNP while on a strict ketogenic diet(the bodyopus diet(75%fat/25%prot)) is not really doable due to the fact that food consumed on this diet isn't filling enough. You'd have to have serious willpower. As everybody probably knows, DNP will increase your hunger through an increase in neuropeptide Y levels in your brain. You WILL start to have what I call, serious carbohydrate cravings. By swithching the diet to 70%prot/30%fat, the choices of food are far greater, and you would still enjoy the muscle-sparing capabilities of ketones, and you will feel satiated. Apart from that, you would not get hot, just warm since there are no carbs in the diet.(I mean, who wants to be sweating all the time). godspeed

I have never had a problem with DNP on a CKD.

Ok, you did a cyclical ketogenic diet. What specific ratio of (fats rotein+carbs) did you use? 1.5:1 or 1:1? |
