In my constant quest to make bodybuilding safer and healthier for everyone, I came upon a question I can't answer. What are the effects of UV light (UV-B, or ideally UV-C)on gear in suspension or solution? Most AS are very stable molecules, and thus can probably withstand UV bombardment for some time without being destroyed. UV light, particularly UV-C, is great at destroying bacteria and viruses. I bet a handheld UV-C lamp, like the one we use to treat infected wounds, could render a large (clear) vial clean of living organisms in about 30 seconds. This would make use use of homemade brews, from vet pellets or powder, safer. However, I don't know enough to recommend doing it yet. What do y'all think? How much juice would be destroyed? What would the products of UV bombardment be? I'm eager to hear your input. Peace! ------------------

This is very interesting, this definately requires a bump. I was thinking about this a few weeks ago while going over my old notes from microbiology, but forgot to post. This will definately require some heavy duty research!!!!!

Just thought of this. I would say that if the warnings on a box of a type of gear, say winny amps, instruct you to keep out of direct sunlight than there is a good chance that UV will damage the molecule, whever this does not bring to light the rate at which it does this. If there is no warning to keep out of direct sunlight than UV shouldn't have an effect.

uv light and heat are to very bad things when it comes to gear. Read all the inserts on the gear. They all say the same thing "keep away from light and heat" uv light breaks down the gear. -Gord

what about tanning beds? will going to the tanning bed hinder your gains on AS? why do pros use the bronzing lotions? for convenience? just wondering

Dyno, I think you are making a joke. Anyway, I am aware that some gear would be damged from this process of 30 sec UV-C exposure. My original questions, and the following new ones, remain unanswered. 1) How much gear would be destroyed by the UV? 2) What would the byproducts be? 3) Would the possibility of losing some cheap trenbolone (for example) outweigh the assurance of sterility? Just a little more input bros. Peace! ------------------

It is my understanding that UV light can not pass through glass. If you are driving down the road with your windows up you do not get sunburned but if you roll your window down then you get fried. I know the same holds true for regular window glass so I would assume that it would apply to amps and vials as well. I could be wrong. Later, |
