I must admit I have been on necessary hiatus. I havn't had much of desire to contribute as of late. I will break my momentary silence to address an issue that has come to my attention.

Seems there is an interesting fad amongst "naturals". It has come to my attention through a few e-mails along with the misguided antics of a few teen monkeys in my gym.

Apparently alot of these dopes are using High Glycemic products like cell tech in 200-500g servings after training because they have been told in passing about the benefitial carrier effects insulin has.

Obviously their overwhelming vaginal tampax tendencies have tought them that anything administered through a needle is evil, therefore need be avoided at all cost. After all its cheated.

I say to them, Gentlemen there is a reason why these products were created. This is an unspoken truth, yet these products were brought to market to be used in conjunction with exogenous insulin supplementation.

Habitualy elevating endogenous insulin through the use of these products in excessive proportion can yield to some serious pancreatic disfunction. Need I mention Type 1 diabetes?

The stupidity, obstinance, and vaginal tendencies of some people never ceases to amaze me.

I must respond, because you analysis lacks merit. Habitualy raising endogenous insulin IN NO WAY contributes to TYPE I diabetes. Type I diabetes is caused by an auto immune response wherein T-cells attack pancreatic beta Cells.

here is something that I posted in the "what are the pros" taking thread- not quite on the same topic but I am just to lazy, must be all that endogenous insulin I have been producing.

I would argue that beta cell down regulation is not an issue, other wise type II diabetics- whose diabetes is related to insulin insensitivity and who actually produce more insulin than the average person- would experience beta cell down regulation, which as far as I know they do not. An increase in Islets of Langerhans mass is found in a number of physiological states associated with "insulin resistance."
Type I diabetes, which results in the inactivation/"destruction" of pancreatic beta cells, has been theorized to be an auto immune disease. I have seen no evidence that insulin itself or its overabundance has been implicated in even type I diabetes. In fact, exogenous insulin has been used in animals inhibit pancreatic beta cell "destruction".

However that being said heavy use of exogenous insulin will lead to decreased insulin sensitivity and can in extreme cases lead to type II diabetes mostly because of increased body fat. Exogenous insulin will somewhat suppress beta cell function(including their production and release of insulin), but this supression is limited to the time of therapy.

I personally think that the short term side effect, extremely low blood sugar, is something to be more worried about.

peace

Good article on how to get the best out of slin (endogenous and exogenous), I, personally do met during the day and then 4hrs later humalog post workout and I have not noticed any insulin resistence.
What are the long term effects of repeated episodes of hypoglycemia?

Speaking of insulin and Diabetes:

RECENT FDA DRUG APPROVALS

The following drug approvals, which were issued in July 2000, have been selected for their applicability to general internal medicine. Complete, updated information on FDA approvals and notifications is available on the FDA Web site (http://www.fda.gov).

NovoLog (insulin aspart) was approved as treatment for diabetes mellitus. It is absorbed faster than regular human insulin, with a peak level achieved within 45 minutes. It can be injected immediately before eating. Efficacy and adverse effects are similar to those of other injectable insulin treatments; the principle adverse effect is hypoglycemia.

Your right mac, drinking a glass of cool aid will not contribute to pancreatic disfunction or diabetes. What a wonderfully astute observation, I am impressed.

Did you bother to read the specifics of my article? I was directing this commentary directly towards the expressly illustrated examples in this threads origonal post.

I guess my general practicioner has got it all wrong.

What do y'all think of #1-alpha lipoic acid, and #2-vanadyl sulfate??? ANy merit, for the low price and availability, if I know I'm not going to try insulin for a while (hell, I'm only on day #17 of my first cycle...)...???

Actually, my analysis of your statement was without flaw, if you disagree, please feel free to respond---------with more than idle conjecture and inane quips about your general practitioner.

mac, T_S....

i'm impressed with the information that you've both managed to collect in your minds. this could become an incredible point/counterpoint post, or it could turn into an ugly personal attack on each other. i'm not accusing or blaming either of you of attacking, but rather i'm encouraging the further discussion of insulin and the pancreas....i could learn a lot from this thread

thanks in advance

Yep, I misunderstood my GP. Rather than believe my GP was mistaken, its more probabale that I misunderstood his point. I brought the cell tech question too him.

Uncle just got back from a trip I had him read the post. Even the ridiculous amounts of simple sugers being ingested by these guys will not produced any beta cell abonormalities. The only thing it will produce is a urinary tract infection.

Im still obnoxious but more than man enough to appreciate the corrective input of a superior mind. Simply put my bad.

Thanks Phage!

PS, dont consume 400g of cell tech. Itd just wasteful.

I was going to step up and disagree with TS but after reading the whole post I saw the macro did and with killer references.

Twisted_Steel I really admire the way you took that. You showed what a good bro you are...
