beer will because its a toxic drug, soda will but only because it messes up your oxygen uptake by your muscles

I read a similar article,
the CO2 prevents protein from being broken down into individual amino acids. I would eliminate BOTH, especially soda: as it does not give you a buzz, hehe. (and it's loaded with simple sugar) Beer is NOT a good idea after a workout or after any meal that contains a high amount of protein.

Hey, where was that article you read? Do you have the website, or was it from a magazine. Just from knowing a lot of pop drinkers, whom happen to be body builders, it DIDNT hurt them much!

I read somewhere that if you drink a soda with a steak for dinner, you will wake up the next morning with meat still in your stomach. Whereas if you drink a non-carbonated drink with the steak, it will be fully digested by the next morning.

actually i took a bartending course and i learned that the bubbles in soda stimulate the valve in the back of your stomach to open up ands allow more "stuff" to pass thru faster.....that will increase the rate at which acohol leaves the body.....but the woman teaching the whole think was a cracked out drunk.....soo if she was right that means soda will increase rate of digestion...
as for beer, well if u r in a cycle u all know alcohol should never be mixed in...

Vinny,

Or would that mean completely the opposite. It opens wide enough therefore NOT allowing a lot of the food to digest?

Sorry to remind y'all that alcohol is a potent aromitizing agent, converting your precious testosterone into estrogen. Peace!

I asked a professional bodybuilder about the soda question. His reply was...

"I've never heard that...but, carbonation slows down
the absorb of water in the small intestine.
Therefore, never hydrate or use carbonated beverages
during training or post-training..Good Luck!"
