Writing a paper years ago on the effects of exogenous creatine, I learned a little fact; the primary source of homocysteine in the body is through the endogenous formation of creatine, someting about the loss of the methyl group from the amino acid methionine(?). While many of us are far more concerned about living large than living long, this is a great place to get some intelligent discussion. Homocysteine, you may recall, has been implicated in atherosclerosis and heart disease. Taking exogenous creatine causes the natural production of creatine to stop. This suggests that the largest source of homocysteine, creatine production, would stop too. A professor I asked, who fancies herself an expert on such matters, says homocysteine levels would remain unchanged. What do you think? The same professor has a poster on her door with the picture of a BB in the morgue, tag on toe, saying "Anabolic Steroids give new meaning to "Deadlift"". The corpse remided me of old Dan Ross. Made me think of the following catchy slogan; "Steroids don't kill people, diuretics do" Since methionine(?) is the limiting amino acid for soy protein isolate, it seems to me that creatine supplementation would increase the biological value of soy. Don't get me wrong, I'm not all about creatine (or soy for that matter) but I am all about learning and extending the boundaries of knowledge. Stay huge bros. Peace! ------------------

Bro, that's very interesting...if you are a member of the Elite Select board, I'd definitely post it there, too, 'cause the caliber of replies is a little higher (NOT TO TAKE AWAY FROM THE 100s OF INTELLIGENT PEOPLE ON THIS BOARD, it's just that most of them are either on the Elite Select or over on X-man's now so they don't post here anymore--NOT THAT I CAN BLAME THEM!) and that's something I've never personally seen/heard before...sorry I've got no info for ya', just comments--my 2 cents on the subject! ------------------

this is not based on proof but theory: yes your body will stop producing it's natural production with excessive amounts of creatine for prolonged periods of time. This is a fact. Theory here is if you take doseage that are not excessive and you do not exceed 2 or 3 months your body will return to homeostasis. Thins is you cannot use it for too long a period of time and you have to give yourself a break between uses.

I keep forgetting the address to X-Man's board. It isn't easy to remember and just type in every time you use a new computer, like "elitefitness.com" is. Could someone remind me? Peace! ------------------ |
