My doctor refuses to perscribe it to me. He feels my acne is not that bad. Although he may be partially right...I still feel that it is bad enough. I finished a heavy cycle of Sustanon and Deca around 6-8 weeks ago and now have a new case of acne on my shoulders which i've never had before as well. I can't seem to keep the acne at bay. I've tried it all with limited success...my question is Just how bad is Accutane. I plan on doing some now and during my next cycle. Any input on experinces?

Its not terrible. Im on it while also on a cycle. Its third month for me, dry skin dry lips, other than the uncontrolable urge to kill myself everything is going great. (sarcasm) Slopain

Slopain is right. just get your liver values checked once a month while your on it and you'll be fine. Gord

My physician refuses to prescribe me it so I am resorting to the black market. What should I do if I can't get my liver checked regularly. Dosages? 40mg once a day or 20mg twice a day. I'm currently around 200lbs.

I finished a course of accutane over a year ago. Its not too bad at all, but research it first. Dosages are give in relation to your weight. I think I took one (20mg) one day, two the next. There are different side affects that you may or may not experience. the common, dry, really dry and pink skin, cracked lips and increased sensitivty to the sun. I have read a lot of different things. I'll look up a site I used to visit with post from other accutane users. It is really good I suffred joint pain, esp. the knees, and I was also told to slow down on the weights as accutane can weaken tendons and ligaments, but I did only for three weeks, then business as usual. Be aware of any supplements you use (protien powders etc.) that contain vitamin A. Accutane is a high dose of vit.A and you should restrict any other intake as much as you can. I am not to sure if a cycle while on accutane is good idea. It is a powerful drug, and puts your body under a fair bit of stress, but slopain would know better from experience. Depression is also a reported side affect in some cases. There has been investigations into depression from accutane and suiced by people, mainly teens, on accutane. Anyways, I found it OK and would do it again if I ever have to, but for know I am still acne free, so it gets a big thumbs up from me. Good Luck

If you get to the point where you are sticking the barrel of a gun in your mouth, back the dosage to 1 tab per day. lol. ghans

I have found the best way to combat acne is a sulphurized soap used twice a day. I know it sounds like it's for high school kids but it really works. Better than drugs. Plus no need to get script. I use "Acne Aid" and it's awesome.

the cheap way would be to use vitamin B5, i saw a thread on the board about it and gave it a try and it really works. around 2-3 grams a day will do just fine for ya. mike ------------------

Thanks for your replies so far guys. Tried the B5 with no noticable changes whatsoever. The sulphur soap was okay. I'm looking for a more permanent change, which is from what I've gathered, is what Accutane will do.

I would try the following before I turned to accutane: Vita B-6 at 5 grams a day

Hey, I know this may sound wierd, but I had the same problem with acne after a few cycles. I have started taking 19-nor and my acne has subsided dramaticaly. That and the tannig bed. Supposely the ultraviolet light does something to the skin

Accutane can really chew up your liver if you are not careful. Keep your skin dry, and I mean like wipe off every half an hour or so. Gear causes excess oil build-up so wipe it off. Also, like was suggested hit the tanning bed. The UV rays can inhibit bacterial cell membrane synthesis (it can inhibit your cell membrane synthesis too...) by creating something called a thymine dimer. Anyways without getting to technical the UV does "kill" some of the bacteria. Platinum |
