Anybody having a hard time with their cholesterol levels? Last week, I got checked again and my HDL was 3 (three), like non existent! The doc new right away what was going on and told me to stop. He put me on Tricor and Lipitor. I am also taking these supplements called GooGooLipids (yeh sounds funny) from GNC that are herbs from bringing up HDL. Bottom line is, is there anything else to do besides cutting AS's completelely?? Help please....

Hammy

There is a gentic factor.

Some of my inlaws have 400+ cholesterol,
and they are thin and eat moderately.
They just know it's runs in the family.

I remember my doctor saying I must be a vegetarian because my cholesterol was so low.
(pre-A/S) When I'm having rice with a stick of butter, big sirloins etc.

an excerpt from the article...
Lecithin is also an important component of the endocrine glands and the muscles of the heart and kidneys. It makes up 73 per cent of the total liver fat. Nervous, mental or glandular overactivity can consume lecithin faster than its replacement. This may render a person irritable and exhausted. It is, therefore, of utmost importance to add lecithin to the diet, if the bodys own supply decreases as in old age or working under stress.
