The dude that my roommate got his shit form (also his best friend) got busted by the FBI tonight. I've met him 2-3 times and he seemed real nice. His is what they found: -$70,000 cash -20lbs of marijuana -pharmaciaticals/steroids They're trying to talk about reduced setence if he talks. But it's not looking good with these amounts. A friend tells me that it's trafficking (25-life). He's only 25 My roommate saw him get taken in. He kept his head up, and he was actually bitching about not being able to finich his cycle. Damn it's sad to ear that. BE CAREFUL OUT THERE     | ||

If it is his first offense, not much to worry about whether he talks or not. You can pretty much use First Offender Immunity for anything except rape, murder, (violent crimes) and embezzlement. If it is not the first offense, homeboy is fucked. | ||

The Feds will only let you go if you give them some info about someone else. Even if you dont know anything, make some shit up. With minimum mandatory federal sentences even the best lawyers in the world cant save you. (you can thank your congress for that) Their are a lot of good people doing serious time for marijuana infractions. Your friend is in some serious shit, tell him to start talking- | ||

For anyone who thinks a first offence you can get off light, think again. I posted an article a while ago on the drug war. In it a guy was found in possession of cocaine (personal use) and it was his first offence. He got life, no chance of parole. It was appealed all the way to the US supreme court and in a 5-4 decision, it was upheld. Two justices said the punishment was fair (what drugs are they on?), three felt it was unfair, but the war against drugs was so serious that an example had to be made. The only way this guy is getting out of jail before he dies is if he is pardoned by the president. | ||

What will hurt him is the amount of marijuana he had. One of the most important things for him to do when his court date arrives, is to dress well, and present himself as a clean cut guy, not a quote "muscle head". Appearance, and a good lawyer acount for a lot sometimes depending upon the judge. Good luck to your friend, but having that much pot was not the greatest idea. | ||

Man, that has to be the worst case scenario. I know someone who was caught with 5000 valium tablets and he only got a fine of $850 dollars and 100 hrs community service last year. No jail time. | ||

There is a big difference between federal sentencing and state sentencing. The feds have mandatory minimums. I got charged on state level for 5 3rd degree felonies and 2 misdomeners and only got 18 months probation. First offense and i didnt open my mouth about shit. However the federal judges are allowed to sentence outside the guide lines if it is a first offense. ------------------ | ||

I know quite a bit about the Feds.In state and local cases you are given the chance to rat people out,and they give you a deal-in advance.Not with the Feds!! You can rat out the Cali Cartel and still get the same time as if you didn't help them out.I was locked up with a guy whose partner ratted out in a coke operation and he got 2 more yrs. than the guy who kept quiet!!For the EXACT same charges!Get a GOOD lawyer that is an exspert in drug cases. Ooops. I found out that TBI (Tennessee Bureau of Investigation) busted him, not the Feds. Sorry about the misinformation. They said it would get worst if the matter went federal. My roommate said if he rated anyone out he'd get killed. I don't really know how high he is on the "ladder". But he's got a real nice place and nice cars. Dude, it already WENT federal. Drugs are a felony, no matter which way you look at it. Felonies are mostly governed by the Federal Jurisdiction unless dropped for lesser charges. And with the stash, you can bet your sweet ass they are nailing Distribution down on him too. | ||

I know a guy who had 49# of weed (1# under trafficing in Mass) and he got 3 months. 25 to life, now that's a tough state! |
