You only absorb about 50% or less of the b-12 that you take orally. It seems to be just as effective orally if you take high dosages. The injectable is made for those with anemia that can not absorb b-12 through their digestive tract. The inj b-12 is faster acting than the oral and will allow you to absorb higher dosages of b-12. As far as appetite expansion and feeling more energetic and healthy, the oral version should do just fine. I have used both many times and prefer to take a couple of tabs over injecting eod.
