If you are injecting into the glute, and you pull back on the plunger, regardless of whether you hit a vein or not. Wouldn't you draw blood anyway? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

No, it will just draw up air. Unless you use a 2 guage needle and you might suck up some muscle in there...then again I think that is called a biopsy. heh heh ------------------ "Faster, faster, until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death." ![]() ![]() ![]()

Fellas, in order to cause an embolism you would quite literally ahve to inject 1cc+ of air into a vein. Continue aspirating as normal standard procedure! You dont want to inject lipids directly into your bloodstream. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

you will not get blood unless you hit a blood vessel(vein, artery, etc.) you get what appears to be air bubbles. these may or may not be air, but when you are done aspirating and release the plunger to get ready to inject the bubbles go away. the syringe does not fill with air!! it may just be air that is already disolved in the solution expanding from a decrease in pressure from aspirating. hope this helps ![]() ![]() ![]()

It will also be harder to pull back on the plunger if the needle is in muscle. [This message has been edited by E M T (edited September 27, 2000).] ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

No, if you hit a vein or artery, then you will pull up blood, I have pulled up blood twice, once in the shoulder and once in the glute. You will kinda know when you hit a vein too, it hurts a little going in ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

WHEN YOU PULL OUT AFTER INJECTING AND BLOOD IS PRESENT DON'T WORRY YOU ONLY PASSED THROUGH A VEIN. WHEN YOU ASPIRATE IF BLOOD IS VISIBLE THEN ALWAYS PULL OUT AND RE-INJECT BECAUSE YOU ARE IN A VEIN OR ARTERY. THE BUBBLES WHEN YOU ASPIRATE ARE HARMLESS. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

So what if you hit a vein or an artery? It's not gonna kill you is it? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Dont waste your time pulling back the plunger.....Ask yourself this, does the Doc or nurse ever do it when giving you a shot?.....Never have they done this with me.......my .02 ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Bad brains...that's cause they are a doctor and they know where to shoot that shit to not hit a vein. Plus most the time they are just doing under the surface of the skin injections and not deep muscular injections. ------------------ "Faster, faster, until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death." ![]() ![]() ![]()

True, but I did the pull back shit my first injection, stayed sore for a fucking week.Asked a nurse friend of mine about pulling back, and she said dont do it, if you hit a vein you'll know it.Not arguing with anyone just giving my opinion. I've lost count of injections I've done and I dont ever pull back the plunger, to each his or her own...... ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

first of all when you throw in the needle you don't feel when you are in a vein. Only if you push the needle in REAL slow then when you feel resistance and have to push harder, good change you are going through a vein. If you inject in a 45 angle, and pull back the air will mount to the top of the syringe and will be left in the needle when you are done. If you see real carefully you can even see the air bubbles coming in the needle. ------------------ Don't look back, life is too short ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I get blood 1 out of 3 times in the glute. Kinda fucked up. Never had blood in the quad. I pull back and you can tell if you are in the muscle because it is hard as shit to pull back, you hit a vein and it comes back nice and easy. Shoot even if you don't see air bubbles, sometimes they don't appear as long as there is no blood shoot it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Like most of the bro's said; you should always pull back the plunger. Yes you will inject a bit of air with it, but that's not a problem. The fact that you must be very careful with injecting air is pritty much oldschool.B2B. [This message has been edited by back2basics (edited September 28, 2000).] ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

nothing really new to add, except when i pull back i get a dull ache in my glute until i release the plunger. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

If you shoot into a vein, chances are you'll be OK, but you'll waste your juice. I always aspirate cause there's no way I'm gonna waste perfectly good juice. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Did my first injection yesterday, mine and my friends... shot him in the ass, newbie mistake ..forgot to pulll back...i was so excited...i did the same thing on mine, forgot to pull back....no problems though we are both fine. Guys, when you pull back on the plunger you don't have to pull back so far that your toes curl upwards. Blood is not difficult to draw into a needle. Just barely pull on it...if nothing goes in, then shoot it. I've never drawn blood before but I am sticking with the better safe than sorry also. ------------------ "Faster, faster, until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death." ![]() ![]() ![]() |
