ok Bro' i am 23 5'6 207lbs and my training partner and friend is 23 6'2 210lbs. Ok i have been training for a while and he hasn't.. The problem is he walks with his arms bowed out like he is huge and he is not.He is always measuring his arms and flexing them at me..And when we r togeher in the gym people say u to got some big arms and he forgets about our workout and goes straight to working biceps .The sad thing is his arms r 17'' and mine r 18''.. He won't listen to me when i am tring to tell him how to work out.. I mean his bench max is 245 and he squats 275.. But what i am asking is how can i be nice and tell him look let's workout instead of thinking u are big???? thanks
I mean it's like when someone says damn u r big he rattles on and on about how big he is getting! and i am like i bench 355 squat 525 natural.. but in 2 weeks going to do my first cycle!! But i don't want him to know!!!

Just say...." I come here to workout..not stare and pose for the peanut gallery"...If you let him hamper your training you have nobody to blame but yourself

Thats tough, I had a partner that was pretty similiar, wasnt a small guya t all but wasn't big. Always flexing in the mirrors and at me and a friend. Shit was embarassing, b/c if I was another dude in the gym I know what I'd be thinking of him. Dont get me wrong I flex once in a while to see progress or check out weak points, but not every 5 mins.

if you are friends with the guy he should be receptive to you putting him in check. for the sake of fairness, tell him. if he doesnt like it get another partner, his LOSS.

You guys are more than friends, you are training partners. Your purpose to help each other out. You need to tell him he is not pulling his share of helping out. He is wasting your time and his. Either get it together or get the hell out.

can well be that he never will get "serious" into it. That will be YOUR loss, since he will be holding you back.
Besides 2 guys training together one may not forget there will be one that will gain the most out of it.

My partner is just the same, He's not small but he is one of the bigger guys in the gym. All that changed when Achim Albrech(old school) started flexing next to him on one of my partners flexing session.

Next time you see him say, "Damn dude, are you losing weight?!?" This will probably slow him down cause it would me. Oh yeah, get another partner.

thats why I like to train alone most of the time. not only can partners hinder you progress, but all the hot girls workout alone too. heh heh heh.

Get to the gym and start working out without him, stay focused on your routine, and leave him in the dust and walk out when your done. Nothing said, your the more for it! If he starts talking move on to the next set/or body part. Keep your mind on the task ahead.
peace.

I have found that the best way for me to train right is to do it by myself.Yes a training partner is great but shit like that and people that are not dependable always seem to hurt your own training. When i have kids i will raise them but by no means do i have the time to raise a 20 year old.so my advice is to go it solo and follow your own goals if mister flex wants to train with you tell him its your way or the highway,if he doesn't like that then tell him to train by himself...........

tell him he is not making any progress due to his lack of motivation and he's holding you back as well. he'll either clean up his act or split. either way you'll be better off. or you can insult his masculinity, thats always a good kick in the ass for guys with big ego's.

tell him you have decided to work out alone or with another partner, and if he asks say the intensity level that you guys are training at is not efficient and you need total concentration, switch to headphones as your partner, just grab a spot in the gym, then if he keeps on say look Im not trying to be rude, but you are no motivation for me I need the elite concentration, tell him he is too busy trying to walk around swole, when he is not, say man Im lookin for a real workout partner, and so far I have limited the choices to me, myself and I...........plus what is he doing for you, 275bench, 225 squat, man its not about how much weight you can push its what you look like, and sounds like he looks like shit, and is weak......so your losing both ways.
