Well I got started on a six month INH ( isoniazid ) to help my body fight the TB. I have another ppd sceduled in two weeks to make sure it's not a false positive. Anyways the INH I'll be taking is very liver toxic. Drinking beer can increase liver damage. My question is How bad is Fina and Test propiate on the liver?

why do you want to go on six months of drugs when it could be a false positive. a positive just means you have been exposed, if it is not false positive that is. if it was me i would redo the tests first. unless you employer wont let you.

Mach2 thanks for your insight.. I do have another PPD to take in 2 weeks. I forgot to ask about the sputum thing yesterday. But I am going to medical today and ask them... But my "employer" does not have the very best medical. In fact it so bad it's free or so they say.

Just because you tested positive, doesn't mean that you have tb, many people test positive that have been exposed to tb in some way or another....but it sometimes lays dormant in you're body and does not ever become active.....the problem is, that one day it may become active. After the retest and chest x-rays, the M.D. will probably test your liver enzymes to see if you would be a good canidate to put on some very strong and liver toxic anti-biotics for a few months. I would guess that you being on a cycle may cause a bit of a problem in this area....

I have a friend in the med field, and they told him that he would get very sick if he was on roids and they had to do any type of TB work. I think you need to tell your doc.

Thanks for the help guys. I found out the numbers today. If I do have inactive TB theirs a 10% chance of it becoming active. If it does become active then its a 30-40% death rate. I probably would have stopped taking the meds to continue with my cycle but I was watching the movie Tombstone today. I never paid any attention but Doc Holiday died from TB. So I guess I'll take some of my on advice and play it smart. With luck my second test will be negative... Thanks again. |
