This is a tricky subject. Liquid-wise,eliminating the gh part of the equation, 1ml=3iu.'s. However a 6mg amp of say saizen(which is a powder) equals 18 iu.'s, but that's powder weight, not equivalent liquid volume.So 1mg of powder equals 3iu.'s of weight, not volume. So if you were mixing 6mg of gh with water I would use 1.8 cc's to get 1 iu of gh per .1 cc of water. one tenth mark on a insulin pin would then be one iu. of gh. Confused??

confused? actually not at all. that's one of the better explainations i've seen on this subject.

i've tried to explain it to a couple of my friends. i usually end up having to go over and mix them up a vial.

it's simple math. say you're using an 18iu vial of gh that comes w/ 1ml of water. 1ml equals 100 units. so divide 100 by 18, which equals 5.5. so if you were to do 2ius per day, you would draw in gh to meet the 11 unit mark on the insulin syringe (5.5 x 2=11)

everyone was wrong except Davidd and sjxhap.

1ml = 1cc
1cc = 100 units

Serostim is 6mg per 18ius. You deposite the entire bottle of water 100ius into the vial, you then draw up 22 ius to meet the recommended suggested dosage of 4ius per day.

6mg at 18ius = 4 1/2 doses
100ius / 22ius = 4.48 (4 1/2 doses)

I posted this question myself and no one could answer it. I had to go to three pharmacists to get a clear answer.

I thank you guys for the help. Finally, I think I may have this conversion under control.

Later.

One last word on this. I found that if you have a 6mg amp of Serostim, mix it with 2cc's of Bac water. For some reason I can't explain you will end up with 18 "tenth's" liquid of gh. Draw an entire insulin syringe out of the bottle. Each tenth mark on the syringe will egual exactly one iu. of gh. If you use 2 iu's, put the syringe back in the frig. You will have minumum wate that way. Ever notice how much does not come out the last of the pin? That adds up to alot of gh. Just dip the needle in alcohol before storing..

Good God..... Research this yourself don't listen to anyone on this thread. Only a couple of them are right and you might not know who they are

Keep in mind that you need to work out the concentration of the solution and then the volume to administer. If you take (.1cc) insulin concentrated at(100iu/1cc) then it will contain (10iu) or as an equation:
(insulin 100iu/cc) x (.1cc) = (10iu insulin)

you should be able to straighten this out with any high school chemistry textbook in the first couple of chapters.
