How do you pull back on the syringe plunger to check for blood when injecting your shoulder with one hand? I studied my Netter's Atlas real well first, but I hit a fairly large blood vessel in my shoulder. It is swollen up a half inch off my shoulder right now.
Any suggestions?

You just need to pull it back until you see a vacuum created in the syringe (in the form of a small bubble).

I would suggest using a 3/8"or 1/2" needle. I have hit my shoulders many times without hitting anything (knock on wood). Check out my injection site for the injection areas in the delt.

Wait until the swelling goes down before injecting there again.

Try do hit the rear delt and pull back without loosing the syringe. I had that once and it was dangling in there. I'll bet that gave a lot of scar tissue, haha.

Thanks for the replies, but there really isn't a way to pull the plunger back with only one hand is there?

Hold the barrel with your palm and 4 fingers and use your thumb to aspirate. I do it all of the time.

2Thick: You obviously have no idea how clumsy I am. Thanks though, I'll give it a try.

Side note, I had to back off the pgf2a, today was my third day on and I came home from lunch and shot 1cc per shoulder, the pain was doable but the nausea was intolerable at work.

I just shot 1cc split into my bi's and chest (1cc total, 30 units in each bi and 20 units in my chest) and the nasea is neglible. I'll just have to build up slower.
