Parallel is a half squat, put your ass right to the floor. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I once remember someone telling me "partial reps build partial muscles". While this does'nt apply in all situations, it best to go below parralel to recruit the highest number of muscle fibers as possible. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Bounce your ass off the floor. All the way down and all the way up. Anyone can move 8 inches. You do squats right and you wont be able to walk for hour after the fact. If you ain't pukin you ain't doing enough work! chesty ------------------ Ooooh Rahhh! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

go an inch past 90 degrees(inch past parallel). going any lower will cause trama to your knee caps. going all the way down will cause them to shift to the side and increase your chances of ligament and tendon damage. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I don't understand why the thinking on squats is to go only to 90 or just past. Let's think about this. The human body was made to squat. When you go half way (90) you put a tremedous stress on the attaching fibers and joints. By squatting all the way down, you are just performing a natural movement at full range of motion. I believe the reason most people do not do a full squat (and I have witnessed this with many partners) is they are afraid to go all the way down. My body don't bend this way or that, or I was not put together right, etc..., Let's face it, squats are the most brutal exercise on the planet and if done properly will cause you great aching and discomfort for days to come, to the point you thought you would die if you did one more rep. Nothing is more impressive than 4-5 wheels a side and an ass dragging on the floor squat for a set of 8-10. chesty ------------------ Ooooh Rahhh! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I know the squats you are talking about. I call them football squats. Another term for them is Time Wasting Squats. Trust me, put your O-Ring as low as it can go and watch the magic in your legs. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

You gotta go all the way to the bottom. Ass to ankles. BTW, if you're squatting 400 plus at your weight, you're doing great, man. Be well, and keep lifting heavy. Bjaarki ------------------ BECOME SOMEONE'S HERO! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Don't be afraid to get some dirt on your ass, you can always wash your shorts after you're done. Ass to the floor or nothing at all. ![]() ![]() ![]()

My max is 465, I work with 405 for sets of 6, hope to pop that to 8 reps next cycle. Oh, the pain that invokes, how sweet! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
