The only reason I would see it being bad is that it makes your muscle go into sleep mode...being that muscles grow more during sleep, this may inhibit muscle growth...to what extent I do not know.......

Just an opinion though.......

It depends. Some relaxants work directly at the muscle level, inhibiting the release of calcium ions responsible for muscle contraction. Other types reduce the amount of stimulation your brain can send to the muscles. If back spasm has bothered you for >3months, check out a TENS unit, cuz it will be covered by insurance, does a good job on reducing muscle spasm, and I bet it could not possibly reduce gains.
