Lately there is a lot of talk of "naturals" doing the impossible dream.
Here is the scene: 16,17,18 years olds "all natural" are pushing the gains over the limit without roids.
Let me tell you about an article written 20 years ago by Bradley J. Steiner. This was in a US Magazine, not Joe Weider's, don't recall wich one though.
The title of the article was :
"BIG ARMS ANYONE". This was strictly for non users, all natural guys.
It seems that a group of doctors at made some research on how much a natural guy could gain on the arms. The best they could find was around 9 inch, so they stated that the most any natural could gain on the arms (over the wrist) was 10 inch. More was impossible. Since naturals now, are the same as naturals 20 years ago, the gains a natural can make now is the same as then. (Don't start about the "natural hormone replacement", those will NOT stay natural for long anymore.
Recently you hear of younsters being 16,17 years old and having 18 inch arms (all natural).
Following the article of Bradley Steiner :
a) since no one can gain more then 10 inch in the arm over the wrist these younsters all have at least 8 inch wrists.
b) not bad for a 16 year old whose bones are not developped to the maximum size yet.
c) 5 years from now and they all have 10 inch wrists ?
d) Since they already, after one year training, have gained 10 inch over the wrist
they cannot gain anymore, already reached their maximum potential.
No i don't buy it, sorry but this is impossible. Also strange these young guys can outdo any pro on juice for years just like that. You know, they bench easely 400 pounds. I must admit that there are guys, skinny guys who can do something that's looks "unnatural", but these guys normally are not big, not huge.
You cannot have both, size and strength without roids.

Well Bull that's great, but are you ripped or do you have 20+ % bodyfat ? Also that's a lot of arm if measured cold for a guy of 198 pounds.
So it seems those doctors 20 years ago didn't know a thing of the human body.

It's always interesting to read about studies like this. I think it's somewhat flawed though. I have a very small bone structure, and my wrists only measure 6.5" around. According to that study I would only be able to attain 15.5" to 16.5" arms naturally. However, without the use of any AS my arms were already close to 16" and I'm sure I could have broken the 16.5" mark naturally. Just my $.02. LATER

Still E M T you just have proven the article right, Your wrist is 6.5 and your arms where 16, so that's within range.
Since you took AS, you will never be able to prove otherwise. You know, once used, never a natural again.
Remember well, "all natural"" means what is says. No Androgens, no PGF2a, no stuff at all. Even if it is not a roid, it can be a musclebuilder. So no goodies like Clenbuterol either. Growth Hormones are out of the game to. Only protein, vitamins, iron pills, amino acids, creatine are allowed. And as E2 stated, anything above 10 % bodyfat doesn't count.

This is an interesting topic.

I remember reading an article by the Great Sergio Olivia in which he said that a lot of the body part measurements of the Star bodybuilders of his time where fabricated by Weider.

He said, Weider claimed that Arnold had 21 inch arms, but when Arthur Jones measured them they where only 19 inches. Only after Arnold trained with Jones did his arms pass 20 inches, and this was after years of steroid use.

I think when some 16, 17 or 18 year old kid comes on this board spooting that they have 18, 19 or even 20 inch arms all natural they are talking through their arse.

Yes I have seen guys with big arms natural, but you usually find that they are really rather fat. They like to boast about there big arms, but ask them to show you their abs and I bet any money they will decline.

Why can some really fat guy's lift heavy weights? Easy because some of the weight they gain will be in the form of muscle, but also the extra size gives them better leverage. Bio-mechanics.

I have seen some fat guy's with massive calves and they don't even train them. How come their calves are so big then? Simple if you weight a fat 220 lb's and are walking around on them all day, of course your calves are going to be bigger than a slim guy of the same height who only weighs 160 lb's. That is not genetics, it is simple bio-mechanics.

Same thing for women who wear high heel shoes. They usually have pretty muscular calves without having to train them. Why? because their high heels force them to put more pressure on their toes which in turn gives them a damn good calf workout every time they walk.

Try it right now, get up from infront of your computer stand on your tippy toes and walk around the room. What muscle do you think is getting the most work?

Anyway I think I have drifted away from the original topic.

Its all genetics! I guess I am blessed with decent genetics. I am 21 years old, 6'2" 285, 19" arms cold, bench 430, squat 660, I dont deadlift(back injury). But I am also at 16% bodyfat, so that helps a lot too. Twisted Steel can vouch for me, its all true. But I truly think that genetics is far more powerful than any drugs you can buy. Hell look at Lee Priest when he was 13 years old, shit he was already on his was to fame.

It's all bollocks, most pro's have been on steroids from they where in their teens. You will also find that a lot of the pro's today got advice from ex-pro's, on steroid use etc.

Fuck sake have you ever seen pictures of Flex Wheeler when he started he was as skinny as a rack. Who helped him to greatness Charles Glass. Go figure.

You will find the same story over and over again, in the back ground there is always an ex pro etc, giving advice.

Peanut, if it is "all genetics" then why wheren't there more "all genetic" guys 20 years ago ? What i am trying to say is: the "all naturals" today all beat the Schwarzenegger of 25 years ago. How is that possible ?
