Just stating my experience here... I've read all over the place that finasteride (Proscar/Propecia) can cause sexual side effects - less ejaculate or lower sexual arousal. Let me just say that I've been on Proscar for well over two years straight and have had NO PROBLEM with sexual side effects. I am clicking on all cylinders - not one noticeable difference...aka big loads. I hear enough about side effects of things, I think we need to hear more from people that don't experience them. Good info. I was doing saw palmetto and had alot of problems in the area of libido & ejaculate and was thinking about proscar/propecia usage during my first cycle. I have seen a number of sites & users complain of similar experiences. So your doing the 1mg per pay propecia & not the 5mg proscar right? I meant to add that the latest info I read from a reputable phd (forgot where) stated that he has yet to come accross a DHT inhibitor that didn't affect sexual desire & function at least a little. I started off taking Propecia for a few months but then switched to Proscar because it is cheaper. I spit the 5mg Procar tablet into 4 1.25mg tablets. My doctor gave me a pill splitter and it works pretty nicely. Proscar is a fairly durable tablet that stays together well when split. There are no doubt some people that have libido problems while on Saw Palmetto (closely related to finasteride) and finasteride, I am just not one of them. Then again...I am 23 years old and my sex drive is still going nuts. When I'm on test....look out. I have never had any trouble with erection (other than a 6 week cycle of Deca, that sucked) or desire at all. My doc also told me that I would notice less ejaculate - never happened. I may be shooting less, but neither I nor my girl(s) have noticed in the two years. DJ | ||

guess i was one of the unlucky ones. propecia killed my drive at age 22. i have since reverted to topical solutions. peace, msg | ||

msg, do you use topical solutions to combat mpb or just when you're on cycle? Do you find the two to be equally effective? dj, I've been on proscar for the last two years also. I find that my pill cutter always causes me to mess up the pill when splitting it up. Do you have any other ideas for pill splitting? I heard a nail cutter may work, but the regular ones are too small. As a reccomendation for the bros out there, if you're really worried about hair loss when on cycle, try taking only half a tab of proscar (2.5mg) instead of the hole tab. A 5mg tab is prescribed to prostate cancer patients and such a high amount will probably not be needed to fight hair loss while on cycle. If you find you are still losing hair while on cycle, then up the dosage. Too high a dosage will only cause an excess and undesired conversion of testosterone to estrogen becuase DHT conversion is blocked. | ||

bigpun... What kind of splitter do you have? Mine is pretty simple to use and I've gotten used to it now so that I can fly through the whole bottle of pills in no time. I split it four ways...the odd shape pill makes some pieces a little bigger than others, but taking it every day evens that out. Occaisionally I will mess up a pill and get a really small piece or some powder...but most of the time it works pretty well. If you are getting uneven or bad cuts, maybe you have a bad blade on your splitter. I would replace it every year or so to keep it sharp. how is it working for you? DJ | ||

I too fell victim to Propecia. I was on for a good couple of months, and just when it seemed to kick in and start working good, it was very hard for me to keep an erection, and then, it became harder to even get an erection. Once I stopped, after a few weeks it all went back to normal. I didn't use it on a cycle, so I don't know how it would have effected me with extra test in my system, maybe I'll try it out next time I'm on. |
