The gene for male pattern balding is carried by the mother. So, take a look at your grandfather on your mothers side of the family. Men can be given the gene for male pattern baleness, but only women can pass it on because they are the carriers. Just because you dad is bald, doesn't mean that you will be, unless your mom carried the gene and passed it on to you. ------------------

Orchitis, That is the old school of thought which is no longer valid. It seems as though baldness is genetically a mixed trait, with the expression of the phenotype coming from both parents. In any case, it is not sufficient to just look at your maternal grandfather and say that you will end up that way. However, if both sides of the family are all bald, then you will probably be at greater risk. Nick, If you are using only Deca, you should be O.K. as Deca is fairly mild in terms of hairloss for most individuals. However, you could be one of the unlucky ones so keep a close eye on it. As an extra precaution, get your hands on some spironolactone (you cab get it for $20 at http://www.minoxidil.com) and apply it liberally. A.M. 1-body, If you have the 'bad trait', then gear will amplify your rate of hairloss. If you are concerned, you should get some finasteride to use when cycling with testo and also for off cycle. Just don't use it with Deca.

Old school? It is still being tought as a proven fact in anatomy & physiology at the college level. I not saying that you are wrong, but my prof just talked about this subject last week in A & P II. I was simply stating what I have been taught.

I have heard of using propecia if your worried about loosing hair and your on AS. I guess it binds to your hair follical receptors and keeps the test from binding to it (thats just what I heard).

orchitis, i do believe AM is right here buddy based on personal experience, ie my brother and i have the same mother but different fathers and i have the "bad trait", yet my brother has a full head of hair. something to think about. peace,

No, Propecia will actually stop the conversion of test to dht, therefore stopping hair loss (and also bening prostate hypertrophy) but for some reason it will turn deca metabolites a lot harsher on the scalp! so taking propecia with deca actually defeats the purpose of the deca. btw- propecia will do nothing with dbol induced hair loss... ------------------

Be skeptical of a lot of things being taught at the University level, especially in the sciences. Biology and Chemistry are ever-evolving areas of study with NO FACTS, merely studies and patterns of theories. Some of the professors that I had at In***** University were so out of it that I probably could have been more accurate doing the lecture. In my case, I started with the receding hairline at age 20. My brother and dad have thick, full heads of hair. My mother's dad is 83 with no hairloss. You have to dig deep into the family tree to find a receding hairline - BUT I'VE GOT IT. I belive it is really a random act of mixing genes and heredity. It can pop out after a few generations of not showing up. I have used Proscar/Propecia since May 1998 and I have incurred no further hairloss since about August of 98. The stuff works for me. I haven't grown any new hairs, but I'm "frozen" in time so to speak. DJ

Well my mother's father had a full head of hair. My brother has a receeding hairline, but as of now I am 20 with no signs.....yet anyway. Do you think I am safe? Nick

No way to tell Nick. If you take the deca only and throw in some spironolactone, you are about as safe as you can be while still participating in the AS game.

Get some nizoral...it's could quite possibly keep your hair from falling out. And if it doesn't, hey it didn't cost too much. ------------------ "Faster, faster, until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death."

According to my Uncle who is a renown Plastic Surgeon, Hair follicle regeneration will be a reality with in the next 5 years. He claims that every bald person will be able to re-grow a full head of hair once they complete the current research.

My father was still hanging on to a very bad comb-over at 25. I myself have been cursed with baby fine hair. I am super paranoid and use Nizoral, I have problems with chronic dandruff and infected folicle anyway. Infected folicles on the side as well as the top so I don't think it is the first stages of hairloss. My point here is my genetics look pretty bleak but I still have my hair and I will be thirty in a few months. |
