Ever since i started taking it, i've felt very lethargic, i just don't have the same amount of energy, i can't figure out why, the only thing i've changed is adding the b5, i'm wondering is anyone else feeling the same way?

I am taking 5gr/day I'm on day 6 and I have no such sides. My wife has no such sides either. My acne has slowed dramatically but it hasn't disappeared yet.

How much are you taking E2?

Well I'm taking it all in the morning. I just read you should spread it out. I'm an 8 cups of coffee guy in the morning so maybe that's blasting me past it. My wife is on an E/C stack so she's not going to feel lethargic either.

Boy did this peak my freakin Intrest. So I had to doa little research, because quite frankly E2 B5 should be promoting an increased sense of energy, certainly not a deficiency. B-complex vits support the production of ATP. This is odd.
Deficiency and toxicity: As with other B vitamins, there are no specific toxic effects from high doses of pantothenic acid. Over 1,000 mg. daily has been taken for over six months with no side effects; when 1,500 mg. or more is taken daily for several weeks, some people experience a superficial sensitivity in their teeth. However, it is possible that if B5 is taken without other B vitamins, it may create metabolic imbalance. Potentially the source of your fatigue?

Fatigue is probably the earliest and most common symptom of pantothenic acid deficiency, though it is an unlikely vitamin deficiency because of the availability of B5 in many foods, plus the fact that it is also produced by our intestinal bacteria. A diet high in refined and processed foods or a reduction or destruction of intestinal flora, most commonly by antibiotic use, can lead to a vitamin B5 deficiency.

Teenagers are more likely to experience a deficiency, because their diets often include high amounts of "fast foods" sugars, and refined flours (all low in B vitamins). And the problem may be compounded because the acne often associated with this type of diet is commonly treated with tetracycline antibiotics, which reduce the intestinal bacteria and thereby the production of pantothenic acid in the colon.

Studies of pantothenic acid deficiency in rats showed increased graying of the fur, decreased growth, and, in the extreme, hemorrhage and destruction of the adrenal glands. In humans, the decreased adrenal function caused by B5 deficiency can lead to a variety of metabolic problems. Fatigue is most likely; there may also be physical and mental depression, a decrease in hydrochloric acid production and other digestive symptoms, some loss of nerve function, and problems in blood sugar metabolism, with symptoms of HYPOGLYCEMIA (low blood sugar) being the most common.

Pantothenic acid effects the function of cells in all systems, and a deficiency may reduce immunity, both cellular and antibody responses. Other symptoms of B5 deficiency include vomiting, abdominal cramps, skin problems, tachycardia, insomnia, tingling of the hands and feet, muscle cramps, recurrent upper respiratory infections, and worsening of allergy symptoms.

This information came from a pamphlet I had on hand about b5. I was gonna give it to my buddy to ease his acne.

A few women are trying it as well and none have posted up any indication of this. So far all the ladies have had positive results in that skin oil and the formation of additional acne has been reduced.

I'm about ready to put my order in....

Strange, i just found another study as well touting b5 as an ergogenic aid.

Dr D litoff and colleagyes had elite distance runners take about 2gms of b5 or a placebo for 2 weeks. They were tested or the ergometer bicycle at 75% VO2 MAX.

"Supplementation reduced lactate build-up by 17% and reduced oxygen consumption by 8%..."

It must be something else, i'll have to rexamine the past couple of days.

Hey E2- Ive been on 8gms for a week and my bacne has completely cleared up. Unbelievable stuff. I have been feeling a little sluggish too. Coffee helps right before my workout. Ran a search on WebMD and their are no known side effects of taking pantothenic acid. Strange-

That is strange E2, I dont have any kind of sides like lethargy, well, really no sides except a clearer face! It could have to do with something else, something you have been taking or have discontinued. Or you could have a bug or something along those lines, you never know. It has been just about 2 weeks for me and I am absolutely astounded with the results such a simple supplement could do for the treatment of acne. I began at 5grms/day for about a week and have dropped it now to 2grms/day.
The only thing I can really suggest is to check your diet, supplementation, chem use or discontinued use, any indication of sickness or a bug. Get Zenadrine or such to take for awhile. Good luck!!
