My protien shakes and vitamins all have glutamiine in them, but my buddy told me that I should start adding powdered glutamine to my shakes and stuff. Does a person really need this much glutamine?

i take 5-10 grams of powdered glutamine after workout with a carb drink ,and i take another 5-10 grams just before bed each night. glutimine helps with protein synthesis and it helps volumize muscle cells also it increases gh output along with being anti catobolic ------------------

Not certain, but I think most protein powders with Glutamine have 5grams per serving. Correct me if i'm wrong please.

It depends on how much of that protien supplement you use. If it has 5 grams per searving and you consume 4 searvings a day then, well do the math. I think that is probably sufficient.

Glutamine is definately a solid supplement for keeping your immune system in check after a hard work-out, much like vitamin C. Only prob is whaever you don't use you piss out. I go with about 5 - 8grams right after a workout only. And liek someone else mentioned ..start reading your labels, its in just about every protein or MPR you drink. Natural-Mike

The glutamine content of most protein powders is usually around 2 grams from what I remember, not 5 grams. If you have a protein powder with 5 grams please let me know what it is so I can start buying it. You will see an improvement in recuperation using this product, in 20+ years I've only heard of maybe a handful of guys who didn't see a benefit from using it. I buy mine in bulk, 600grams at a time and use 10grams on off days, 20grams on workout days.

After visiting the suppliment board it was all talk about taking Glutimine on an empty stomach. Taking it in protien drink form does not sound like empty stomach so you may want to consider the absorbtion factor.

Optimum 100% Whey shakes have: 4,072mg of Glutamic Acid/Glutamine per serving and one scoop is a serving. What is Glutamic Acid? This shake has a lot of BCAA's and EAA's....along with Glutamine.....and its pretty cheap, got my 5lbs for $28. ------------------

from what i have read L-glutamine should be taken on empty stomach. Some take it before bed, or before morning cardio, etc. It's anticatabolic, and has helped my immune system. Glutamine peptides are supposably 3 times more absorbable by the stomach. And they can be taken with food or protein shakes. They costs a few bucks more, but you might get more bang for your buck.

I take it daily. 5g in the AM and 5g. after my workout. It's kind of expensive but I like it. LAter, Green |
