I've been following the discussion on the Gymratz messageboard regarding long term T-3 use. It seems that some believe that there are no side effects from a very long term use of T-3 . Some guys even argue that a long term use is beneficial for the health.
What are your opinion?

Read the following note taken from: http://www.gymrats2.cjb.net/

"...actually buddies, I have researched this extensively, and have NEVER found a case where t3 over long-term use has downregulated the thyroid's natural production, only where it has resulted in hyperthyroidism. I have even talked with an endocrinologist about this and she said that she has also never heard of ANY cases where patients long-term t3 use has resulted in hypothyroidism. in addition, on the UG board a reward was offered of 1000 bucks by a monitor if someone could provide evidence that long-term t3 usage could cause hypothyroidism and to my surprise at that time - no one could. perhaps you guys have some "inside" info that I have not found yet but my personal feeling is that longterm t3 usage WILL NOT cause hypothyroidism but may even result in an upregulation of the thyroid. of course, I have no idea how longterm usage would or might effect other parts of our physiology..."

I don't know about the long term use being healthy but I do know that I have searched extensively for a case proving someone messed up their thyroid with t3 and I have yet to come across one single case. Everyone is scared of it and scared they will mess up their thyroid for life but the chances of it are very, very rare as long as you have a healthy thyroid prior to using.
