Has anyone tried those tanning pills? If so, do they work well and how real does the tan look? Also, are there any unwanted side effects from them? Thanks     | ||

They do have prescription tanning pills, for people with skin pigmentation discoloration or those needing a base tan for tropical vacations. I can't think of the name, but starts with "TR..." I think, I do know it is highly toxic to your liver. | ||

It's trioxsalen (brand name: trisoralen, neosoralen, and others). I think it is hard on your liver. I used it once and did get a decent tan. I'm pretty light skinned to begin with, so anything was an improvement. ------------------ | ||

If you can get it, (Trisoralin), get it. The shit works wonders. You only need to take it it for about a week. Theres a possible chance that if you were pretty pale, you could possibly go to a dermatologist, tell him your leaving for a vacation somewhere near the equator, and you need to get an extremely quick base tan. He might just prescribe a few for you. Theres really no bad side effects. You'd only use them a couple of times anyway, before you go to the tanning bed. Good luck... | ||

I have heard it turns you orange also. There was a case somewhere, a mother let her kid drink Sunny Delight, the kid drank so much that it too turned the kid's skin orange. So, if you can't afford the pills, drink a few gallons of Sunny D. It has the same stuff in it that the pills do.   | ||

E2 is right. Trisoralen works wonders. Just about any doc will prescribe it to you. When mine did we looked in PDR and there are no bad side effects known. ------------------ | ||

Trisoralen helps increase the amount of melanin produced by melonocytes in response to ultaviolet light,but you don't just take Trisoralen and get a dark tan,you need UV light to activate it.Trisoralen is quite safe when used properly.But it is considered medication,not a supplement,thus,it should be used with caution.You shouldn't and you don't need to use any more than 28 tablets per cycle without going on at least a 4 week off cycle.And you need to take only 2 tablets(10 milligrams)2 hours before each tanning session.If you can get in 14 tanning sessions within 2 or 3 weeks,I think you will be amazed at how beautifully bronzed your skin becomes. | ||

I have gotten the pills at pharmacies in Costa Rica. Sold under the name Meladinina. 30 pills in two blister packs for about 7 bucks. Produced in Mexico by Chinoin. 2 tabs 2 hours before tanning for 7-10 days and you are DARK. | ||
