Becuase that way he could monitor the right things in my body. Liver functions, kidney output, toxin levels in your blood. If he don't know your using he can't check them items. I got no static from him after he knew. He just wanted to make sure I was doing everything proper. Depends on the type of doctor you get.

You should tell him. If he lectures you like you were a child, find yourself a new doctor. If he advises against it, but gives you constructive advice anyway, this man is doing his job. Doctors prescribe shit daily that's harder on your body than AS. I think his reaction shouldn't be any stronger than his reaction to drinking or smoking.

I had an allergic reaction as well and told the doctor. What I was wondering is this...
If I went to the doctor and told him I want to get my gyno removed and try and get insurance to pay for it, will they refuse because in my records it will have that one visit that was about anabolics?

Honestly i think it's dumb not to let your doc in on your little secret. They're not stupid, they know you're on. My docs take care of me, make sure my blood work is done, will write me scirpts for some things if i need them, all in all they're pretty great about it.

Baza, When you went for the first visit and told the doctor and he submitted that claim did he put "diagnosis: Allergic reaction to AS" or just that the visit was for an allergic reaction?
If you want to know for sure what they will do go to a different doctor and ask him about the gyno surgery. Then ask him to get the surgery and follow up treatment pre-approved in advance, they can call it in. When he asks you when it started tell him you just noticed it.

Well, once a doc knows it will be in your medical records. Insurance companies can and will make hard choices based on your medical records. If you have socialized medical care its probably no big deal, but in the private health care system, I would only do so in an emergency situation. (unless the doc agrees to not make it part of your records which probably would not happen)

Good point Irish, I didn't think of that.
My Doctor had asked me once if I was on AS.
At the time I hadn't done them yet.
Until now, I wouldn't have a problem telling him, but the Insurace issue is a real factor.

Example, lets say you have kidney, liver , or heart problems after your doc documents you use AS.

I asure you that the insurance company will fight any claim they believe is caused by your actions.

Most all life insurance companies will not pay if killed while drunk or on drugs. Same with health insurance companies.

Can you guess my occupation?

Keep it to yourself if in the USA

Exactly Irish!! I say keep that shit to yourself unless your doc is a very good friend or if your having a serious problem.

Don't be so naive to think that everything in your medical records is confidential. Everything and anything can be used against you.

E2 failed to mention that we have universal medicare in Canada. Therefore we do not have to worry about insurance companies screwing us in the end. That is a great reason for Canadians to tell your doc.

No Irish, I don't know your profession. But I've paid over 30,000 medical claims in my life over a 7 year period. In the US.

Having gyno surgery will not cause any insurance claim to not be paid unless the onset is before the policy was in force. If you have a medical condition such as Kidney, CHF, Liver dysfunction etc, and you are found to be a drug abuser then yes they may deny benefits. But they are going to find that out at the time your treated so not telling them here (when having the gyno surgery) isn't going to make any difference.
ALSO Unless the doctor says in his physicians statement when you're treated for one of these ailments that the use of AS caused your condition, the Insurance Company is not going to fight it. The cost of litigation is well over $25,000 and they will probably lose without the doctors testimony.
This all will be reported to the MIB and it will make it harder to get insurance both life and health in the future. But since gyno is a genetic disorder you don't need to tell your doctor about the AS if you don't want to.

Every insurance comp will not dispute every claim. I did not say they would.

Take this to the bank, if an insurance company can prove you used a drug without a RX, they will deny your claim. (it is written in the policy)

Of course if the claim cannot be linked to mis use of a drug then that would be a different matter.

BTW, the insurance comp will just turn it down, it will be your respociblity to litagate and if they have grounds to dismiss your claim, you will not find a lawyer to help unless you will pay for his service. Then of course he would be payed however the vertict comes out.

Just my 2 cent opinion. (I happen to know alot about the subject)

That's what the Insurance Commissioner's Office is for.

Insurance companies with an AM BEST rating of A or better are not going to deny claims and wait to be sued in any event.

I worked in the claims dept like I said for 7 years (3 different companies) we never denied benefits in such cases unless the physician indicated in his records that the cause of the illness (or accident) was drug related. The doctor's know this so the majority will not put that in their record to begin with. You might have noticed most doctor take their patients side over the insurance company. I've had doctors (R.D. Hamilton M.D. in Chicago is one) who went back and changed their medical records because I denied a claim and you know what? That was the end of it we had to pay the claim. I worked this job, I happen to know a lot about it too.

burndaddy's 2 cents is to not tell your doc. consider this if you will, you work in an industry were you exposure to chemicals, although supposedly non carcinogenic, is high, later in life you develop cancer of say the liver, now you are going to have a law suit because you are intitiled to compensation for your exposure to hazardous materials, your prior employer will have your medical records opened and they will try to use the fact that you used a.s. in the past which is accepted by the medical community at least publicly to be liver toxic.

He even wrote me a script this week so i can get a bottle of Primo from the pharmacy. Tell your doctor that you are on nothing bad can come out of it, he probably knows already anyway.

I told a doc at a walk-in clinic. All I wanted was to get some blood work done. I got a huge fucking lecture from someone who obviously knew far less about steroids than I did. It was a bit humiliating. And to top it off she wouldn't even order the blood work done because she said it would be "condoning my actions". Bitch.

However, I'm going to try a different doc in the near future.

My new doctor is cool with it, even seemed kinda amused. He has lots of HIV patients (I'm not one), so he seems comfortable with AS. (I figured he would be, that is one reason I switched from a doc who would have lectured me had I told him.) In fact, my test. is kinda low and I'm trying to get him to prescribe them for me. But then I keep going on a cycle. He wants to see them low for a while before he will prescribe them.

My doc asked me if I was and I told him ya. He knew because he had seen me 3 months before weighing about 30 lbs.(aprox.) less, and my blood pressure was really high. He also knows my older brother was on them so it fit the pic. I was seeing him to get a scrip for accutane and that kind of led him on too.
