hi guys, As you know , I have lower back pain.Docs told me there was nothing but a pulled muscle or so.This was a year ago and Ive laid off complete workouts for two months. It still hurts. My girlfriend tells me its because of my stomach which is not huge but you can say Ive got a gut. I also tighten my belt tight when I wear pants.I also never took ab training seriously.( I think these are factors) What does the pain feel like?bending over to pick something off the floor hurts, and so does getting up from laying down.any advice guys? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I have had lower back pain before, in fact I am dealing with it right now. Here's what I have discovered, from both my Chiro in times this is usually caused by some muscle past and through trial-and-error. Provided there is no physical damage, pain such as imbalance. In my case, it boils down to not stretching my hamstrings, calves, and glutes enough. In addition, I don't really train abs...other than through the synergistic effect from the squatts and deadlifts I do. I called the Chiro about 4 weeks ago, and told him I wanted to come and get my back looked at. The very first thing he told me, without asking ANY questions, is that I had not been stretching enough. No visit for me... I am on a nightly hamstring stretching and ab traing program, trying to get the tension right again. Damn my back feels so much better! It's the little things that we overlook that are the really most obvious.. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Did these docs do an MRI or xray on your back. If you have a slightly herniated (sp?) but not ruptured disc, it might be harder to detect. I think anything muscular would heal quickly unless you are continually aggravating it. Also, I would start doing ab work. I think abs are important for stabilization during heavy compound exercises. I used to feel my lower spine actually shift when I squatted. After a year of lower back and ab work, that went away. One more thing, it sounds like your girlfriend is just trying to get you to lose that gut. I would do it for her...or you better keep her away from Brad Pitt movies. zeke_b ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
