Author | Topic: Had To Dump The Weight Squatting Today..

This probably belongs in the now-none-existant chatboard but I've gotta rant, and I'm sure you guys understand. Today I was squatting, (only to parrallel, my ass is already huge) and right as I'm in the middle of my heaviest set, this guy comes up behind me and says : "Hey man, how many se-" of course right as I heard him I lost my concentration and accidentally dropped below parallel, couldn't get back up and had to dump the weight off my back. Luckily I didn't hurt myself, so I gave the guy a dirty look, got everything back into position, and finished my set. Fucking bastard ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Frackal: Hard to believe that somebody would do that to you in the middle of a set of squats. I like to go to failure even on squats, sometimes, so I use a rack. Set the rails at about upper thigh level. You know all this, I'm sure. This allows you to dump the bar off over your head, rather than down your back (bumpity bump over each vertebra [OUCH!]), and saves a lot of hassle. Yes I was really suprised too. He didn't even apologize so I was unsure if he was even talking to me, but no one else was around. I've been thinking about using the rack, but there's no mirror and a mirror is kind of essential to me anyway, to my form. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thats bullshit dude. I hate fucks like that. I don't mind if people don't go 100% in the gym (to an extent) but when they bother you during your exercises that really pisses me off. Sometimes I get so focused on a set I lose conscience of my surroundings. I don't hear the music, or my partner yelling at me. But if someone did that to me I would dump the bar on them, cuss them out for at least a good 20 minutes ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Lucky you didn't hurt him. I use headphones to avoid hearing all of the little shits talking about the party they went to last night or what they want to do to the hotty on the other side of the gym. I hate when retards stand right next to you when you are doing flyes or shoulder raises, or stand right behine you on the back extension machine. I usually bump em hard on purpose, sometimes twice and then apologize after they move. I hate when people stand in front of you and stare at you while you are resting between sets but wont say anything. My gym's pretty busy, though, so its hard to queue up without being a nuisance. zeke_b ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

The only thing worse than that is the 130lb fucks that come up to you in the middle of a set and tell you that your form is off.I say i'm 227lbs and iv'e fucked girls bigger and meaner than you,so you do the math. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I think anyone who goes to the gym 20 or more times a month for more than six months straight should get a special name tag. They should be able to bump dorks off of equipment by just flashing their badge. zeke_b ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Bro I hate that shit too. What I hate the most is when Im waiting for some equipment and some pencil-neck dick is lollygagging around. You see em do a set them go get a drink talk to the girl next to em, taking a fucking hour between sets. I hate that shit!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

The other day I was waiting for the seated shoulder press rack and I swear this guy did about 12 freakin sets. He started with the bar and pyramided up to something puny (not sure what cause I was too lazy to count all of the fives and tens). And then reverse pyramided all the way back down to just the bar. To make things worse, he walked around and got a drink between every set. I rearranged my planned workout and watched for the damned thing to open up, but 30 minutes later, I ended up using dumbells instead. I rest a long time between sets too sometimes but I only do 3 or 4 sets to failure 5-10 reps usually, so I'm really never on equipment that long. zeke_b ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I didn't want to have to say this, but I'm noticing a lot of bad attitude on this thread. Talk about bumping other lifters off of work stations and shit, just because they're not as big and buff, or as serious, as you. Zeke B's remarks are a good example. Don't mean to pick on you, bro, but you ought to look at this attitude thing. My point of view: Everybody has to start somewhere. Just because someone's weights aren't as heavy as yours doesn't entitle you to ridicule them. More importantly, though, bodybuilders should, more than anyone else in the gym, practice an attitude of generosity and helpfulness. We get too much bad press about "roid rage," out of control machismo and other shit, and a fucked up get-out-of-my-way attitude just serves to justify that bad press. The biggest guys I know are generous and helpful, even deferential, to newbies, and to those smaller and weaker. That's true manliness, in my book. Again, Zeke B, I don't mean any disrespect, and maybe I'm wrong about this, but I though I detected a less than generous attitude on your part. Think about it, bros.
